The TSN Loyalty Discount: Am I the only one...?

...not at all satisfied with this so-called loyalty discount?

I've been thinking of cutting back on my participation in SOM. This seals the deal.

I appreciate the effort Bernie and his staff made to get things back up and rolling, but this works out more like a marketing ploy by TSN to me. They're not really giving us anything. They're still going to make a nice profit off this "gift," especially since they'll be getting people to buy more teams as they usually do. This is bad business. Bah humbug.

Analogy: You wait a long time and get a bad really meal at the local steakhouse. You complain and the manager offers you their $8 cheesecake for half off. That's precisely what TSN is offering here.

I guess it depends on how much you want that cheesecake. I'd rather get a new steak for free, or at the least a round of drinks.

I think this makes most happy, including TSN, but to say they still make a nice profit is not quite accurate as explained in other posts. Since I play mostly on credits anyway it doesn't do much for me specifically, but I understand there was no realistic way to satisfy everyone.

Since Nev won't give me any of his credits I wasn't going to buy any teams this week, but at 2 for 1, Hell yes!

As for the downtime, it's like it never happened in my book.

Bottom line for me, Bernie is still the guy I want in our corner, and unfortunately for him, he got beat up from both sides these last 3 days...Us all weekend and I suspect his bosses on Monday. Some was deserved, most was not.

Actually the cheescake analogy is not precise.

A better analogy would be that they offer the next steak you buy at half off.

Would you go back to a restaurant where they didn't do anything about your current situation? 99% would give you a new steak free right away and then maybe even give you that cheesecake, too.

Don't get me wrong... I certainly don't blame Bernie on this... it's entirely TSN's fault, not their dedicated IT/game staff.

If you buy a 5 pack it is like getting 2 free steaks.

Im with ya a bit zip. I too felt when I saw it, in ADDITION to being beside myself that I had JUST bought a single 69 team to play in a theme league to try and make up for the jones I had without the game for two days, ,and also that im getting a discount, but in reality, buying more teams. it's especially painful considering the discount is for games Im pretty tired of anyhow, and it ends on friday. now a discount for a five pack of 2006, or atg3 when it comes out, THAT would be significant. it's a nice gesture, but I think it only goes "half" way, and in the long run, still prospers their business. I don't sense a real sacrafice on their part, since most of the guys who posted here would be buying multiple teams anyhow, and now will just buy twice as many. plus it came in the midst of an atg2 finals for me, which I probably would have lost anyway, but now will never know.

Ah, such victims of marketing. TSN doesn't have much business savvy, but they sure hoodwinked y'all.
