http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=104759

My lineup is:

T Cobb RF
C Keller LF
R Hornsby 2B
R Collins 1B
H Steinfedlt 3B
B Freeman DH
A Trammell SS
M Haas CF
B Tebbetts C

A rotation of:
Gibson, Blue, Leonard, Harris with Lyle and Lopez in the pen.

My ballpark is 1919 Comiskey. My team is 26-40 and sinking fast. I can't score runs.

ATG veterans please give me suggestions on fixing this team. I can't take this losing anymore.

Thanks.

Try tweaking the lineup.

Sambito and Garman would help in the pen, if they are available. Avoid their weak sides and put them on quick hook.

The first thing is if your not hitting with that lineup then maybe strengthning your Pitching might be the way to go. It's a judgement call not to be made quickly. But I can advise that your staff sucks.

I use Gibson with modest results though he may be my favorite SP during my childhood, V. Blue I use all the time but as 4th starter. Oouch on the BP.

I can advise that players from Offensive ballparks tend to play down to the pitching parks level. You probably don't grasp the effect of the BP singles and HRs have. Rip Collins is easily an average ATG3 1B in a pitching park. You have Trammell from Det, Hornsby from Wrigley, etc.

Downgrade 1B, SS ( Look for Chapman, Peckinpaugh types)

I like Cobb & Keller and 3B is fine.

Get some quality Pitching even if you need to trade 1 or 2 star offensive players. It's not how good your cards are but how they perform.

Note - Good offensive players from pitching parks overperform. Cepeda, McCovey, Mays, Aaron, Covington, Canseco, D. Henderson.

Ditto on the park. It's a killer. To be honest, I don't know how you get a team to win in County other than luck out and get in a weak division.

That said, in a park like that Gibby is too weak to be your stopper. In County, if you're going to skimp on pitching then your turbo charged offense needs more "natural" HR than just those that Hornsby can provide.

But don't get discouraged. I can think of only one County team I've competed against that finished over .500 -- and that one barely.

Ripper for who?, Trammell for who? and other questions

Postby BeltranFebles » Wed Mar 01, 2006 8:58 pm

The ballpark is Comiskey not County but the points you guys made are well taken. Gibson just isn't enough as a #1. Any suggestions on who I should use?

Thanks for the straight talk BobSchwartz. I evidently was swayed by Ripper's numbers rather than his card. Same goes for Trammell.

As for my pen -- Lyle has been outsatnding, Miller solid, Lopez more lucky than good, Dreisewerd has been god awful and Osinski too. The funny thing is I've read a lot of good things on Osinski on the boards here.

So I'll keep Keller, Cobb, and Steinfeldt and probably Hornsby too beacuse the guy rakes and it's unlikely I'll get fair value for him. Anyone else is fair game.

How much of a difference is there between Chapman and Peck or Tony Fernandez?

Who should I replace Collins with?

Anyone have any feeling on Lefty Williams? Comiskey was his home park.

Feedback, feedback, feedback. Please keep it coming -- Lord knows I need the help.

BTW -- Can Dennis Leonard break the record for most HRs allowed?
