I'm looking at him closely in my 70's Tiger Stadium team, where I cut Mays' 69 card (probably a mistake in retrospect), and Rick Monday is batting .175 / .264 / .294 through 126 ABs . . . .

Nice moves with this team Jenn. Your team is on a 16-8 tear, and your +37 run differential is now the best in your division. You made a lot of quick cuts (which can be hazardous) but your team has come out of the downward spiral very nicely. You are a mere 3 games out of first place, and may have found the antidote to the Jablowmi curse. :D
Great turnaround.[/quote:f63bbbad0d]

Thanks, but this team still needs a lot of work! I started 6-12 and at one point was 7 games under .500 so played it rather aggressively and already a couple of my quick cuts are coming back to haunt me, but I felt I needed to take some risks to avoid getting buried early. The competition in this tourney is rather stiff and I didn't do very well last year as a replacement so I'm trying to avoid a slow start. My 80's team is pretty good so I'm hoping I can keep my 70's team competitive so I'm in decent shape going into the live drafts. It's still very early though, anything can happen.

Good luck to you!

Since all of you are in dreamland thinking you can win this tourney and my New Year's resolution was to become much more charitable, I decided to handicap my 70s team by dropping the league leader in wins. This should give those in 70s League 1 a slightly better chance to pick up a few points but don't count on it. :P

Wow. This will probably be the only time I'll ever get to look down at all of you guys! Well everyone except sphilipp8.

Does this mean I lose my guppy status?

[quote:46f3bb00d9="echo22"]Wanna talk trash? My 70's team is trash! OMG it's soooo freaking bad. I've lost 8 of 9 and can't shake the jablowmi curse. Last time I was in a league with him my team was 50-31 at the halfway mark and finished up 31-50. This team might lose 90+ games and I've NEVER had a mystery card team lose more than 85. At the rate I'm going through players Roger Repoz will be on my team by week's end. Worst.team.ever [/quote:46f3bb00d9]

Wow what a difference 5 weeks makes. This team started 6-15 and looked like it was doomed. Now it's 93-57. More importantly I may finally be breaking the jablowmi curse. How about this for a comeback...

Tulips.......... 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 010 - 11 19 0
Mama BS1........ 3 0 5 1 0 0 0 0 0 - 9 12 0
Win:Dal Canton(6-0) Loss:Martinez(0-3) Save:Gogolewski(4th)
Homeruns- B.Oglivie(57th), D.Buford(21st), D.Kingman(68th), R.Smith-2(34th), P.Blair(4th)

Left fielder Willie Horton had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the sizzling Tenacious
Tulips staged a dramatic comeback over the Yo Mama BS1 by a score of 11 to 9 at Fenway Park.

The difference in the game was the offensive outburst by Tenacious in the 9th inning when they exploded for 10 runs on 9 hits. The highlight belonged to Ben Oglivie who disappointed the partisan crowd when he smashed a two-run homer (his 57th of the season). Tenacious finished with 19 hits while Yo ended up with 12.

He won his rd 1 & rd 2 World Series, both as a wild card, knocking off a 106 win PillPop team and my 101 win team in the semis to get there.

The curse of jablowmi continues as he has everyone under his spell

33 and rising

Postby chess2899 » Mon Mar 16, 2009 8:29 pm

I just wanted to give everyone in the 70s/80s Tourney a heads up. I am ranked 33rd with 2 losing teams but am about to make a major turn around.

It is my Destiny as The Dark Horse to make the Final 12 and end up in the Final 4.

So whoever is sitting in that 12th spot, don't get too comfortable. I am making a move. 8-) 8-)

In about 3 weeks, the Final 12 predictions will be up including all the "bubble" teams. Jablowmi will be in the Final 12 but with 2 titles, he already blew his wad, so I don't expect him in the Final 4. Echo will also be there but the Diamond Diva is losing her concentration with her creation of theme leagues. The one who picks up momentum at the end wins these things, and it appears to be me. :D
