Meat, what happened to the pick you promised?

Rick Bauer is still available for 4.19. I guess no one thought an R 8R and an endurance rating of 5 innings sounded too attractive.

Reminder to Colonel to drop Bank One Ballpark. Skydome (11, 11, 12, 12) is the most similar AL stadium.

I've never played SOM on line, though I played the table game back in the 60's and 70's and I'm a regular player of ESPN CFB/Diamond Legends. With a small pool like this, it's hard to miss guys. Even a blind squirrel will stumble upon an acorn from time to time.

If I was so smart, I would have been looking at those "$" signs before rather than after I'd already picked almost my entire starting lineup. A-Rod looks like he'll hit about .240 with runners in scoring position and 2 out, and Texeira takes a wallop too.

Still haven't figured out how to change the draft to 26 rounds, so maybe it can't be done and we'll have to do the last round on this message board.

Time to start tending to those pesky little team requirements:

Meat: 6 hitters, 3 pitchers (1 starter), park
CATom: 5 hitters, 5 pitchers (1 starter)
Balmer: 6 hitters (1 catcher), 3 relievers, park
Colonel: 6 hitters (1 catcher), 3 relievers, an AL park
Kramed: 5 hitters (1 catcher), 4 pitchers (1 starter)
Calliaume: 6 hitters, 3 pitchers (1 starter)
BK: 5 hitters, 3 pitchers (1 starter), park
Cwolfson: 5 hitters, 3 relievers, park
Al Hogg: 6 hitters (1 catcher), 3 pitchers (1 starter)
AP: 8 hitters (2 catchers), 1 reliever
SGT D: 3 hitters (1 catcher), 6 pitchers (2 starters), park
Pope: 6 hitters, 3 relievers, park

mark set to complete round 18 and take us into 19. I'll be surprised if we don't finish the live draft tommorow, and enter the league by thursday for the autodraft to run late thursday. I'll make sure I have proxies loaded for the remaining scraps

Another charming aspect of TSN/SOM is that those "$" symbols sometimes have a relationship to Real Life, but very often they have nothing to do with the hitter's record with 2 Outs and RISP. They are simply RBI Helper. You'll note that leadoff guys have a lot of them on hits, and 4 and 5 hitters have a lot of them on outs. They're there because the primary directive in SOM is "thy replay season shall come out right." Unfortunately, they have very little to do with a hitter's intrinsic ability. One set of cards covers all SOM activities; and what is important to replayers is completely unimportant to TSN/SOM players.

I don't think so, I think the "inherent" reason for playing this game is to "recreate" the '04 season, AND to see, if we PURGE certain players, what the exact results would be. I, personally, like to play god (Billy Beane) and see which combinations of players WORK together. I LIKE SOM, which is the reason I spend $200 - 1,000 per year to do it :). Don't win alot, but have FUN - and I won;t be able to take "it" with me

 Barry, I often wonder why you even play this game...

Well, my strategy of selecting players that nobody else wants is finally wearing thin. Well, perhaps you all don't really want them per se, but you are forced to select them anyway.
