Greenwell is excited to be back on a big league club to prove he can still swing the bat better than [b:b978db7553]Jose Canseco[/b:b978db7553] without steriods.

With the recent news about Canseco's admitted steriod usage, Greenwell has a hell of a case for why he should be named 1988 MLB AL MVP while Canseco (the recipient of the award) did.

Of course, Greenwell has to quiet his critics after lasting only six (6) games with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan a few years ago (bad back, broken foot but he collected around $3.0 million). Greenwell, who is over 40 years old but hit .295 in 1996, his final year in Boston.

League insiders say that Greenwell had been contacted by [b:b978db7553]Jimmy C[/b:b978db7553] and [b:b978db7553]Fatty [/b:b978db7553]about playing this season.

While local sports writers were critical about taking Greenwell so early, Veeck made the press pool laugh during its weekly macroni and cheese dinner when he said "I didn't expect all the damn shortstops and catchers to get taken so early. I can't remember one ever selling out the house like that damn midget."

I don't regret that pick just yet but I was like a kid in the candy store here in round 7. I knew I needed a LH bat and oh my, Gamble and his modest price tag was just staring me in the face....

I knew he wasn't going to stay on the list any longer than my pick so greed consumed me and I had to have him as a round 7 gem.

Anyhow, this really shakes my lineup card up quite a bit. Having Oscar the Grouch on board now makes anyone available for trade: Rice, Winfield, Tartabull, HOJO, and even Gamble himself.

Keep this in mind during the draft and after the draft. Will entertain all kinds of trade talk. PM me if you're interested in any of the above guys.

I'm not sure about the 80s version anymore and whether TSN has my number. :roll:

I'm getting my hat handed to me in a league where the #1 team is using Paul Molitor at SS / 2B :shock: :shock: - and several players that I've never seen on an opening day card.

In the same league, I have another team leading in pitching despite not having a pitcher card more than $2m and playing in the Kingdom :shock: :shock:

On my frickin team, I've just dropped:

[b:12dbabaabd]Stieb [/b:12dbabaabd](second time in the second consecutive league I've drawn his 5R suck eggs card - three starts 40 LHB Faced - .700 BA :oops: of course he is decent against RHBs )

[b:12dbabaabd]Drabek[/b:12dbabaabd] (I suspect I drew his near worse card as he had almost twice as many BBs (11) than KOs (6). Seeing my league is LHB tilted .... it could have been a long year for old Drabek :cry: )

[b:12dbabaabd]Pedro [/b:12dbabaabd](~60 PAs no HRs, 4 2Bs, 3 BBs, 8 SOs and he played in small parks the entire time. As he had a OBP around .250 and saw 60% RHSPs, I had a bad feeling about Year 5: BA - .280 with OPB .333) [/list:u:12dbabaabd]


Despite seeing a nice dose of RHPs, my BA is about .225 :x

I appreciate good trade talk no matter the outcome. You never know how it will go in the 80s game that's for sure. You never know which card is going to show up.

Therefore, it's never over til it's over. If a trade happens during the draft, during preseason, or during the season, it's all good.

Maybe something will pan out later vs. sooner?
