It does but it doesn't bernie. When I draft Koufax I am not wanting a starter/reliever swing man I am drafting a starter. Very good chance I am wanting a starter as a substitute and I do not care if he is S only or S/R.
I accept that this is not a bug as it works as designed. But to me this is incorrect design that needs fixing. Perhaps there could be some kind of indicator what our plans are. If we could specify we plan on using this draft pick as a starter only or as a reliever only or as both it would help tremendously.
While on the subject same applies to all positions. When any player plays multiple positions we should be able to specify what we want substituted if we do not get the player. Maybe I draft Rose with plans to use him at third. That means I have drafted another LFer and do not need another. I need a third baseman substituted. Or maybe it is other way around and I picked a second third baseman and I need a LFer substituted.
We need to be able to control/influence the substitution of players more in the autodraft. Being able to specify a position would go a long way toward that.
