Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Well after 7 long games (Home team won them all) I won the title. Thanks to everyone. Any suggestions on where I should play next. There are quite a few stadiums that I have hardly or never played. The choices are Yankee or Shea (never played) or Tiger or Anaheim.

Tiger makes a fun place to play. Trying to corner left-handed power. Parker returns (or Straw), Lynn, Whitaker, Porter etc...maybe Key as ace.

Also...Gibson, Oglivie, Gamble, Tettleton, even Simmons...who cares if someone steals a base at Tiger. Tiger is a challenge you should treat yourself to. I've played there 3 times, and enjoyed it as a nice change from my usual pitchers parks...

Well I decided on Tiger stadium. I have put in a team in an auto league, there are 5 in it right now. I went through my other Tiger teams and realized that I have never had a winning record there. I will post after the auto draft.

Well here is the autodraft, I traded Carew for Davis. I also have the first pick in waivers, which I am planning on taking Ripken. What do you think?

You have the best hitting in the league. The pitching sucks but is fixable. You'll have to get cheap relievers which are just as effective as the big buck guys. You'll probably have to go with a cheap 5 man rotation and hope for the best. You are better than the other team in Tiger Stadium. This team will have to outscore their opponent every night, but you will have fun.

Enjoy!

That is how I usually have to win my games, since I never have good pitching.

Well I've got no problem taking Ripken with the #1 in waivers. In fact he looks a perfect choice.

Now I've never subscribed to the ignore pitching in a hitters park school of thought. So if it were me, next I'd be targetting at least one ace pitcher of the Key type.

While I would agree with Jimmy that you don't need to throw guys out in Tiger, you still need someone who can hit lefties and hit for power. The aforementioned Tettleton and Simmons would be my first choices. If they or the other star catchers aren't available, I'd start my platoon with Porter, Gedman or Whitt before I'd go with Hassey. lots of cheap options on the other side.

You've got some great pieces though. Brett, soon Ripken, Whitaker, McGwire, Parker, Lynn. Ogilvie. I can't decide whether I'd go with Davis as DH or whether to use Gibson and maybe a platoon. While I like both Deer and Parrish in Tiger, I don't think you need to spend that much and Parrish is not particularly tilted anyway. Incaviglia or Roberts would do. You could even get one of them instead of Bush even if you are going with the Davis option instead of the Gibson platoon option.

Then buy pitching. That's me.
