Discussion time:
I have been reading somewhat negative comments, posted on the message boards, by various managers, pertaining to ATGIV. The main areas of discontent seem to relate to the high offensive numbers being put up by a majority of teams, and the unpredictability associated with the bullpens in general.
Even though I have had fairly good success with my ATGIV teams in general, I do end up scratching my head many times when I look at the boxscores and wonder what is happening with the pitching in general. And as for the bullpen issue(s), for example, the other night Wilhelm came into a game in the eight inning to close out a 3 run game. He pitched one inning retiring the side in order, then for some reason another much cheaper relief pitcher was brought in and was followed by two other relief pitchers who ended up blowing the 3 run lead and losing the game by 5. What gives there! I do have my settings showing Wilhelm as my closer, and also my set up man, and slow hook. All my other relief pitchers are set up under 1 inning, and quick hook.
Anyway, not to beleauger this, but what are your feelings in regard to ATGIV in general?
I am also encountering difficulty finding leagues to join, as they are taking a great deal of time to fill. Is this because of the discontent associated with ATGIV......is it because of tough economic times in general.......is it because so many are now competing in other forms of leagues, such as 2008, Bobby's Good People Tournament, etc.
One last point, has anyone here had any experience playing the 2008 league, and if so, any comments on the experience to date?
Thanks
