Gooden bad

is it true there is a curse on Doc Gooden? I remember past messages relating to this. I just started a league and have him on my team for the 1st time ever. In his three starts he has given up seven HRs and has a WHIP over 2.00. I know it's early but is this what I have to look forward to?

oh yea. I didn't mention he has also given up 24 hits and 15 walks in 17 innings.

He is a slow starter for sure. I had him start on my roster more than one time, but he finished on my roster only once.
I drafted a Mets team in a non-theme league (only have 2 non-met players on the roster) and he was the one big bright spot of my starting pitching staff. He did start the season slow if I recall.

Anyway, he ended up winning 20 games with his second best season.

Gooden has 1 sick and 1 very good year. His next three years are good but not worth anywhere near 8.15 million. Since most good players dont want to spend 8.15 million on 2 years worth that price, he usually ends up on bad teams and that makes his stats when you look at him on htose teams or on YF's spreadsheet even worse.

I have picked him up on waivers in bad drafts or where pitching was especially thin or in live drafts if he was still around in the 10th round or so but I would never put him on my draft card.

Your stats are clearly the result of bad roles. Nonmetheless the likelyhood you have his lights out year with those stats is unlikely and I would dump him. Onthe other hand, he gives up more HRs in his 2 good years than the other 3 so....
