By the way, DonFEEQ had it right. It was mentioned and ruled that since the nominating owner does not have to bid, then if someone fills his roster or a positional spot (hitter or pitcher) the owner still nominates, but does not bid.

I say we stick with Tippy, since there has been bidding, but I disagree with the next-in-line concept. If I had been the next one in line, you all would have just waited something like 17 hours for a nomination.

That leaves us with a potential "no bid" scenario, which would have the person with 10 pitchers or 15 hitters to nominate another player, that may or may not attract any bids, and if no bids, then repeat with a different player.

If I am incorrect as to what was agreed upon, I'll put up Jenkins and not bid if I win Tippy.

Over the course of the months this will take, I'm not concerned with waiting for a nomination.

Mr. Boone to weigh in?
On pages 14-15 of the chat thread this was brought up, I may be misunderstanding the final ruling, if there was one.

I don't really care which way we go with this, but I say that if we do go with the next person in the division making the nomination then maybe if it looks like you might be winning a bid for a player and that player is your last pitcher or hitter then you could give a heads up to the person who would be placing the next nomination. That way the person would at least be aware of the fact that they may be putting someone on the block.

I suggested in two posts above that it simply slides "down" to the next team down the division list - as we have it listed, working East to West. If it's the last team on our list it goes back to the top. This is as random and fair as anything.

EAST
1. Mike Lopp - Cabarrus County Jumping Frogs - ANAHEIM '78
4. Mr. Baseball World - Washington Heights Brewers Hilltop '11
7. Palanion - Throwing Muses - Robison '11
10, gorshar - Knights of Goodbye - Fulton County '78

CENTRAL
2. ldanred -Sportsmans 41 AL
5. BobBoone - Seattle Maritimers - Polo Grounds '41
8. DONFESQ - Arlington Awhiles - Griffith 11
11. gfdwarf07 - If It Takes All Summer Comiskey '78

WEST
3. DHowser - Canadian Back Bacon - Griffith '57
6. bkeat23 - Summertime Blues - Palace of the Fans
9. DOHOwser - The Cattle Auctioneer - Forbes '57
12. mjruth - Fenway Green Monsters -Fenway 41

As per above post made by gfdwarf on page 15 on the chat page, if this is the case, we are on track right now! My vote is let's stay with it.

I thought we had decided that the person would put up a player without a bid, if no one bids, they try again. Seems easier than trying to remember if you're the next manager, or the next next manager, or the next next next next manager if it comes to that.

That could go on for days with no bids, which was the concern.
No progress vs waiting a day for someone to check in and make certain progress.

If everyone is checking once a day, we're OK.

I do agree with DHowser that a post to alert the next manager he'll be making a nomination is a great idea.

My Apologies

Postby BobBoone » Fri Apr 17, 2009 8:07 pm

I have been out of comission for a couple of days, but I am feeling better now and am back to work. Just a cold, but it knocked me on my buck, er my boone, whatever!

I have found that the best way to handle these situations, is you guys. Everything that has come up so far you have wrangled around until you arrive at a decision that all seem well pleased with.

We have two possibilities, and even if one of them was tentatively decided upon, I am ok with a vote. I will not vote so that with the 11 of you it will get decided.

Please vote for...

a) Same player picks, or
b) Slide down the draft order.
