70s/80s Players Championship: Final 12 Projections

Postby chess2899 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 10:53 am

With 5 weeks remaining, the Final 12 isn’t as clear as the standings indicate. We see only 2 sure playoff teams, Echo22 and Jablowmi. There’s another 20 plus are still hanging on for the remaining 10 spots. Sadly, chess2899, The Dark Horse is too far back at 33 to have a shot unless his 2 losing teams can go on 15 game winning streaks. (anything can happen in Strat)

1. Echo22: in
2. Jablowmi: in
3. Jsam9801: probable
4. PillPop: needs another playoff
5. NYcalderon: needs another playoff
6. Yellow dog: 2 playoffs should do it
7. Barnak: needs another playoff
8. Great UnWashed: needs another playoff
9. Sphillip8- a couple playoffs should do it
10. Hallerose- one or two playoffs

#11 and #12 are up for grabs:

[b:940ca3bfa9]BUBBLE TEAMS[/b:940ca3bfa9]

Jack77- needs Title
Ggrover15- needs Title
Rigged Splits- needs Title and another playoff
Dezman- needs Title and 4th team needs to get over .500
SellingW- needs Title
Ebbets1957- needs Title and playoff
BallyWackman- needs Title
BrandonCraig- needs Title and another playoff
Haile Dog- needs Title and playoff
MoodyWoody: DEFENDING CHAMP- needs 2 Titles, and why not?

[b:940ca3bfa9]HAIL MARYs- need titles, prayers, and miracles[/b:940ca3bfa9]

Sykes25
PM770
Bigbadboog
Toisan
Thegooddoc
LMBombers
Ths92110
YountFan

This will be updated in one week! If I skipped anyone, sorry, but you probably won't make it.

Interestingly enough, Echo22 and Jablowmi have been outstanding. However, neither are predicted by Vegas to win the whole thing.

My Rd3 & Rd4 teams have been positively mediocre. If I hang on I will limp into the Finals

I think you need to take Jack377 off the bubble. His round 3 team just made the playoffs and he has the league's best record with his round 4 team. That will make 3 playoff teams out of 4. He's in too!

Jack377 is the #1 Bubble Team and 2 spots are available so he should be in. However, he could be edged out if other bubble teams get Titles. A Title is worth 20 pts while a playoff and out is worth 5. The race will tighten.

Vegas is looking for consistency in determing the Champ. Teams fading during the 3rd and 4th leagues will be on a negative streak entering the Finals. Vegas favors the surging teams. Jack377 may be one of them.

I was somewhat discouraged about my chances until I saw the Dark Horse passed me by, just like all those players on goood years he glossed over in the drafts for leagues 3 & 4.

Actually Durantjerry, I reassessed your chances. You are kicking butt in your 80s league so you DO have a legitimate shot at the Final 12 if you can get to the Finals and definitely if you win a Title. My apologies, but you will make the Bubble list on Saturday.

You are also right. I am usually patient but spurred by the "Echo Syndrome" which is drop a player now and ask questions later, I dropped Tony Perez in his best year and dumped Dave Parker too early. Since Echo had such sucess with her add/drops, I thought to emulate her but it has backfired again. 2 Years in a row, I have failed with my LIVE drafts. The Dark Horse becomes the Forgotten Horse. At least I can live my dreams through you and others in the Final 12.

Someday, I will get there! I won't use Mo & Ron, my Mental Midgets managers since they spend more time talking than managing the team.

Race is Tightening

Postby chess2899 » Sun Apr 12, 2009 11:27 am

With 3 weeks remaining, the Final 12 isn’t as clear as the standings indicate. We see only 3 sure playoff teams, Grover15, Echo22 and Jablowmi. There’s another 20 hopefuls that are still hanging on for the remaining 9 spots.

1. ggrover15- got his title he needed, very clutch. The Favorite in the Final 12
2. Echo22: in, will make trouble fro people in the Championship round
3. Jablowmi: in, but mentally exhausted

4-12 is getting wilder. All need a playoff and need to go deep into the playoffs

4. PillPop: needs another playoff, could be in trouble
5. Yellow dog: 1 deep playoff should do it , but is slipping
6. Barnak: needs another playoff
7. Great UnWashed: needs another playoff
8. Sphillip8- a couple playoffs should do it
9. Rigged Splits- needs title
10. Jack77- needs Title

#11 and #12 are up for grabs:

BUBBLE TEAMS

Jsam9801: slipped from #3 to a bubble, needs title
NYcalderon: needs another playoff, but looking bad
Hallerose- one or two playoffs

Dezman- needs to get 4th team on winning track , chances slimmer
SellingW- needs Title
Ebbets1957- needs Title and playoff
BallyWackman- needs Title, slim hopes
BrandonCraig- needs Title, slim hopes
Haile Dog- needs Title
MoodyWoody: DEFENDING CHAMP- needs 1 Titles, and a playoff
Big Bad Boog- needs title
YoutFan- needs title and improve team #4
LMBombers- needs title

There are no Hail Marys this week!

We see significant changes occurring in the next week.

The Dark Horse returns, if only for a week!

Postby chess2899 » Sat Apr 18, 2009 12:45 pm

The race is tightening.
1. ggrover15- in
2. Echo22: in
3. Jablowmi: in
4. Sphillip8: in
5. Yellow Dog: in
6. Great UnWashed: in
7. Hallerose: in
8. Pillpop: on the verge
9. Barnak: on the verge
10. Jack: on the verge
11. Rigged Splits: on the verge
12. BUBBLE TEAM

[b:e7c263c0a1]BUBBLE TEAMS : 8 on the Bubble[/b:e7c263c0a1]

DurantJerry: Needs final or title
SellingW- needs Title
Ebbets1957- needs Title
MoodyWoody: DEFENDING CHAMP- needs 1 Titles, and a playoff
YountFan:needs title and improve team #4
Dezman: finish with a winning record and pray
Hailedog: usually ignored, but alive
chess2899: needs a title. The Dark Horse won 21 of 27 games to snatch an unlikely playoff berth. Anything in Strat is possible!

The current and last 70s playoff has chess2899 vs. Yountfan, and MoodyWoody vs. Sphillip8. A title by Sphillip8 will most likely kill off the other 3.

I'll give my two cents worth (B4 the 4/23 games)

In
1. ggrover15
2. Echo22
3. Jablowmi
4. Sphillip8
5. Great Unwashed
6. Rigged Splits

Watching the playoff teams and hoping the wrong teams don't win
7. Yellow Dog
8. Pillpop
9. Dezman

Need to do a little work in the playoffs to make sure they are in
10. Hallerose
11. jack

Then, there are the teams with another week to add points and some are guaranteed of making it to the championship in the league
12. Moodywoody - chance for two teams to win championships yet
13. Durantjerry - looks to have playoff birth locked up
14. djkalle/hailedog - looks like one of these teams will win 5 points for the division win (mamiller could still knock both of us out)
15. ebbets/barnak - unless bigdinkent spoils it, one of these two will win the division and play djkalle/hailedog in playoffs. Barnak is the one team in this league who could make the Final 12 without making the playoffs.

Finally, there is the group that needs a title or miracle
16. sellingw
17. ths
18. boog
19. jsam
20. chess

My current predictions to fill the last 6 spots
hallerose
jack
barnak
dezman
moodywoody
djkalle

I'm thinking it's going to take 362 points to get in. It should be a fun last couple of weeks to watch. Good luck everyone!

Man, I really wish my 80s team hadn't gone 1-16 down the stretch to miss out on the playoffs and put me likely on the wrong side of the bubble...
