Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Postby AllStarInc » Sat Apr 18, 2009 6:40 pm

I just traded text messages with Paul. He's currently on the road, but I'm sure he'll post later.

I'm thinking he'll read the posts and want to continue, but that's not my call.

My suggestion would be to continue the draft as normal. latorrer u are up, and have been for a while!

Let's try and put up a few quick picks?

Yo Ugly Jerry!

If you want to email me your email address and/or cell phone number I can send you an email or text message to let you know it's your pick.

Either that or send me two names and I will make the pick for you depending upon who latorrer takes.

My email address is allstarinc@aol.com.

[quote:f6ae355e4c="YountFan"]Don't quit... I already bought a team. (sounds selfish)

Quit the stupid and unnecessary draft. yes, quit the seasons, no.

[/quote:f6ae355e4c]

I'm sure a few or more of us have got our teams bought.
:)
I'm all for staying the course and working this out.
And the auto-draft is fine with me. If(I hope we do) go to next season just expand the keepers by 2 or 3 and just go with the auto draft then.
Just an idea.

The draft is kind of important because the teams picking at the top do have an advantage that will be erased by going with a autodraft. Not that it's a HUGE advantage, but still an advantage.[/quote:4e0c5212ac]

Sorry I've been incommunicado. We left home early today and just got back.

I'm glad to hear there is interest in keeping OSG going. I was starting to think we were growing tired of the on-going nature of the league.

It's been my contention all along that what Bill said above is right. Teams that do finish lower in the standings should have first crack at the best rookies and free agents. Has it helped? Hard to say, but I'd like to think so.

The problem here isn't the draft, but the slowness. Still, knowing some of the guys we have in this league and their schedules, I would hope we can wait them out. Right now we're waiting on Rob. We've all been in plenty of leagues with him and know that if he's not checking the boards he has something going on. I just don't feel right abandoning our league rules because someone has issues that get in the way of making a pick.

So, if it's ok with everyone let's get through the four round draft and allow us also-rans a chance to catch the big boys. Several guys have passed on their e-mail addresses or cell phone numbers, so that should help!

BTW, if you are interested here are the franchise records through 2005:

I am 8th and 51 games back and draft 11th. How can that be?

Draft order = record in the previous season + record at the halfway point of the present season.

Rob Latorre must have been taken hostage or something. His last post on the board was a week ago this past Friday. I've heard nothing from him in the leagues we're in together. I'm going to try e-mail.

Perhaps he is lounging in the Caribbean . . . nah, even there he would have his laptop beside him on the beach blanket. I guess I could try to find a phone number, but Latorres in the NY Metro area are probably as thick as Smiths and Joneses in Missouri. I'd hate to accidentally call some of Rob's more . . . interesting relatives by mistake. "Big Robbie the Hit" Latorre, Roberto "Cement Shoes" Latorre, Bob "The Blade" Latorre, etc. You see my point.
