Outfield question

Outfield question

Postby gett1863 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 10:06 am

Okay, final question, Honest:)

My home park is Turner Field. Can I afford Carlos Lee in LF, Kotsay in CF and a combination of Green and Kearns in RF. My feeling is that I dont want a 3 and 4 in my corner outfield slots but was looking for a suggestion or two.

Thanks.

Can you post a link to your team?

It all depends on who else you have? What the format is...etc...?

As I said I have Lee in Left, Kotsay in Center, Kearns and hopefully Green in RF. I am going to have Pierre as my DH with Dunn at First

You should be fine defensively like that. There is nothing wrong with a 3 at LF or RF. I am not wild about a 4 but he is your best OF bat so I guess he will have to do.

When I consider my LF and RF defense, first I look at two things. What stadium am I in? How many BP chances do my pitchers have?

You're in a stadium where roughly 50% of all BPH chances will leave the park (in which case, it doesn't matter who you've got in RF and LF), and 50% will test your RF and LF (which means you'd better have some range to make those outs, or at least arms to turn the Texas leaguer into an out at third maybe).

All of this is mitigated in a big way by the fact that you've chosen only one pitcher with any significant BPH chance--that's Willis--and that's only against righties, which means your LF will get tested from time to time.

I would extend this same analysis to another question, too. Check out your opponents' hitters and parks and determine whether there are enough BPH chances to justify the benefit of upgrading defensively.

Thanks for the opinions, as usual, much appreciated. Looking at the other stadiums in my division 2 Petcos and a shea, I think I'll stick with my current defense and hope for the best:) Hopefully my lineup will be scoring some runs

You should get your money back for getting stuck in a division with 2 petco's and a shea.

You have 6 million to play with anychance you can throw Lee in and get a stud??
