Baseball 2009 League Chat

Hey Guys,

Don't know if anyone will chime in, but it's always nice to have a place to go to vent or celebrate.

We start tonight, it will be interesting to see if there are a flurry of last minute moves or whether the teams are pretty set as they are.

Any thoughts from all of you?

I'll probably wait 30-40 games to get a feel for how the RPs are being used. That makes a difference in how the ratings turn out, but, yet, I'll post the ratings at that point.

I've only been in a couple of leagues but I think I've got a great team this time but then again I always think that:

I have great defense, an excellent bullpen and rotation and a solid middle of the order. I lack a little offense at the bottom of my lineup and maybe my leadoff hitter but I have a solid team.

Joe-

Thanks for setting this up. I don't have the time to play this game alot but grew up with strat in the 70's and loved rolling the dice. I have competitive teams that make the playoffs almost 50% of the time but rarely win it all. Hoping to change that with a championship with this team. :D

Great idea for the thread! This is my first team with the 2008 season set. Not too confident going into opening day - ended up first on the waiver draft list - so didn't come out with as many of the guys as I wanted for The Cell - then only got three of the seven I wanted in waivers. There - you have all of my excuses. If I stay injury-free (unlikely with Furcal, Hairston, Drew, Alou and others) I can compete.

:) Looks like a good group. Hopefully we can keep up the chatter. I don't get in all that many leagues myself, but enough to keep my fingers in it.

Still playing FTF too. That takes some time away from TSN for sure.

As for excuses, how's this one? I forgot to set my lineups/rotation/settings for tonight! Just glad to get one win with that being the case. I think I could have won game 2 if Hal would have brought Balfour or Giese instead of Affeldt. Ugh. My bad. Losing Gerut didn't help either. I have so say however, that he got the right guys, almost all, into the lineup, just can't say like the batting order. (e.g. Sizemore hitting 6 against Johnson, Bartlett batting 2 against RHP)

Well, we're off. Hoping this team can stay healthy too. It should be good if we don't get crippled by the injury bug. We have only 3 guys with 600 PA, but only two starters with more than a 1 injury chance.

must say that I am happy with the last inning heroics to pull out two wins last night. Beating Rivera with the three run bomb is very pleasing :)
A comment I would like to make is i love A. Sanchez when he can face six or more righty bats. he has been money for me in my other league also.

It's good to be back again. I usaully get a few teams every year, but I missed last year. I'm looking forward to it once again.

Tough start for my squad. Made 5 errors in three games and lost my second RF in as many series. Down to third string for tomorrow's series. Ugh.

Gotta bounce back. :P 8-)
