ATG IV 16 event Franchise League

I understand that I don't have to protect a player if they played exclusively for my franchise. What I'm confused about is your comment about the protected lists. Do you mean if you don't protect your studs and duds you may not get them in the autodraft?

I think I am with others in not interpreting the rule exactly correct either.

If I am now reading this correctly, iff you have to have the two highest priced pitchers carded to your franchise, then there will be a list of 24 pitchers (12 x 2) that are off-limits. We have no option but to take these guys. If I have to take Cy Young and Roger Clemens, then I shouldn't have to protect them and I should be able to protect other guys instead.

[quote:cf2bea2d63]#1. Your 2 Studs are your 2 Highest Priced SPs on your teams. They can be either on your roster and be protected or could have played on your franchise and you placed them on your draft list. [/quote:cf2bea2d63]

I don't interpret this as you have to have the two highest priced carded pitchers on your roster. If that were the case then why the explanation of "could have played for your franchise and you placed them on draft list? I interpreted the explanation as the two highest priced pitchers you end up with on your roster have to start for the season and have to be 3 day rest guys. The two duds have to be under 3M and also be 3 day rest guys and be in the rotation every 3 days.

All that said, I guess we have to get a clarificatoin from Frank M. He's the one making the rules.

Your 2 Studs are the Highest Price carded player that played for your Franchise. The 2 Duds are the under 3MM carded player that played for your Franchise. I used Carlton as an example. If I don't protect him then the Cardinals can draft him. Aerodave, Clemens pitched for the Yankees and they can draft him if left unprotected. Same goes for Cy Young. Hope this helps clarify the 2 Studs/2 Duds rule.

OK, I have another question. Am I obligated to protect my two highest carded pitchers? As I understand the rule, now, I need to put Chesbro and Gomez on my roster. But if I don't protect Gomez and the pirates decide to take him, then do I then have to play the next highest carded pitcher available? Or the next highest pitcher that ever played for the Yankees? (like Clemens)

Next Highest Carded SP that played for your Franchise. Yes, if Clemens is not protected he can become property of the Yankees.

I hate to be annoying here, but this rule is extremely ambiguous. With quotes like the one above, it seems fairly cut and dried about who can be on your roster. If you have to have a 4-man rotation, and 2 guys are under $3.00M, I am having a hard time understanding how we have any options about who the other two are.

AeroDave, I can see where what I wrote can be confusing. Hope this helps out. Your 2 Studs are the 2 Highest Price SPs that can play for your Franchise. Whether they are carded to your team or are available due to minimum requirement. I will post a list of the Top 2 Carded for each Franchise later today.

let's say for argument's sake that my two studs are Walter Johnson & BErt Blyleven. If the Indians manager somehow leaves Early Wynn available, am I forced to take Wynn over Blyleven, since he is priced higher than Blyleven and eligible for my franchise?
