"weapons loaded and locked, sir. Ready to commence fire at precisely 11:46:00, sir."

"belay my last, belay my last. Shot fired!! Shot fired!! Reliever down. Identity: Hernandez, Willie".

"sir, strongly suggest next shot be fired immediately by billings baller."

"out"

Without Bad Luck, I'd Have NO LUCK

Postby Semper Gumby » Sun Mar 05, 2006 11:36 am

Okay, my bitch first -

Auto league:

[list:0ec1e81d09]TEAM A with a mix bag of mid priced SPs and [b:0ec1e81d09]Molitor[/b:0ec1e81d09] at 2b and sometimes SS

TEAM B has [b:0ec1e81d09]Scott[/b:0ec1e81d09], [b:0ec1e81d09]Stieb[/b:0ec1e81d09], [b:0ec1e81d09]Reuschel[/b:0ec1e81d09], [b:0ec1e81d09]Drabek[/b:0ec1e81d09], [b:0ec1e81d09]Gwynn[/b:0ec1e81d09], and [b:0ec1e81d09]Pedro [/b:0ec1e81d09] playing at Riverfront[/list:u:0ec1e81d09]

Which one is in first?

Hmmm .... not TEAM B - HELL NO ... 15 games into the season and TEAM B has 8 HRs!

Well, I just killed half of my pitching crew along with Pedro (4 2bs and no HRs playing 12 games at home) and it now has Scott, Clemens, and Soto. Hell, I can't do any worse.

[color=blue:0ec1e81d09][b:0ec1e81d09]NOW FOR THIS GOAT ROPE[/b:0ec1e81d09][/color:0ec1e81d09] -

Sure I saw old [b:0ec1e81d09]Orel [/b:0ec1e81d09]sitting around at pick 33 and did the "well ... this looks too good to be true" and took the bait hook, line, and sinker. Now I need to amortize [b:0ec1e81d09]Clemens[/b:0ec1e81d09]' & [b:0ec1e81d09]Hershiser's[/b:0ec1e81d09] collective $18.8m salary cap over an entire season.

Frankly, my best pick is [b:0ec1e81d09]Al "Scoop" Oliver [/b:0ec1e81d09] since he can hit like [b:0ec1e81d09]Rod Carew [/b:0ec1e81d09]on a good day. Otherwise, I wanted Carew as he had been a Marine. Too bad [b:0ec1e81d09]Tom Seaver[/b:0ec1e81d09] didn't make the cut as he spent time in the Corps too.

Gotta love it when those proxy picks kick right in on the 5 minute mark.
On the budget front, it seems to me that we should all be at or under $72.5M at the end of the live draft. That would leave $7.5M to draft 10 players at $750K during the TSN draft. Is this something everyone agrees to do? I believe that I am in the tightest budget squeeze at the moment so this would probably affect me more than anyone else. My concern is what happens if people drop draft picks off their TSN draft card and they then end up on someone elses team as the next best available player in the way the TSN draft works. Know what I mean?
Let's see if we can get this draft wrapped up this afternoon.

I am all for that...and we will have to decide the next step. I think we all agree that we want this thing loaded by the Friday night deadline. And we know Semper is travelling all next week. So...here are 2 options I toss out there:

#1 Finish the draft and load 12 puppies into 3 divisions tonight and git-r-done.

#2 Finish the draft, and load divisions at our leasure until Semper has to get into the West. If Semper can load sometime Thursday, we can have the frenzy Saturday 5pm (when he is around) and the league starts next Monday.

(Semper...just remember that the frenzy after a live draft is a little underwhelming...a couple of cheapies get shuffled around. It's not like an auto-league where Singelton can still be sitting on FA after the waivers).

Anyway...I like #1. Any comments, options, strong feelings one way or another?

I'd prefer to go with option #1. The more time goes by, the more likelyhood that things get messed up.

I'm up for Option #1 also. I've been loading my draft card as I've made my picks; I'll be ready to start the league as soon as the draft finishes, if it finishes up by mid afternoon. I'm taking my daughter skiing this afternoon, will be gone for a few hours.

Let me know what you want to do, Jimmy C --

post the division assignments again, so I know who to send password to.
