Smallball Team - Input Requested

I was originally going for an extreme smallball team, bad draft and thru waivers, here is where I am at.

Playing in Griff, Wrigley 29, Dunn and Forbes in division, rest is Y56, Dunn, Baker, Fenway 67, Dunn, Dod 77, Dome, Tiger 84.

Lineup:
Manny
Musial
Fox
Gardner
Crosetti
Kiki
Dom
Rice

SPs:
TF Brown
Clemens
Hubbell
Frock/Wilks/Horton

RPs:
Garber
Fosnow
Wade
Dreis

Most of the big SPs are taken, Johnson is next available.

Whaddya think?

Txs in advance, sschu

Scott,

What's not to like? Great SP, good balance, D & overall good speed.
Team should do well.

sschu,

Walter Johnson is a nice value in a pitchers park, I've been using him a little bit lately and he's done a pretty solid job. Diamonddope him .....

Looks like you're gonna pick your spots for your 4th starter? What happens if you have two series in a row in a hitters park? Wilks might get pounded. Just a thought.

The team is very solid, I'm just a little worried about that #4 spot.

Sschu,

I try to comment on all Forbes/Griffith teams that I see and offer my advice. I like to think I do well in these 2 stadiums. With that being said, I am having a hard time making any suggestions on how to change your team. Maybe add M Cvengros to your 4th starter rotation? Other than that, I do not see anything to do with this team.

I'll have a Yankee 56 team I might ask for your advice on if you do not mind come tomorrow. I wish I could give you more help here but in all honesty it is not needed.

I think you posted this team because you wanted to show off 8)

Boss,

LOL! Showoff is not what I had in mind .... :)

Actually I do not play "extreme" smallball that much, so it seems to befuddle me when I try. I like to play at Forbes, but with mid priced pitchers and good hitting. Actually I was going for a team with 4 expensive SPs, but missed out on a few in the draft.

Glad to help you on your Y56, please let me know. Just remember, even LH power, RH OBP, value SPs. :)

It is really hard to get the 4 stud SP these days. The closest I came to was getting Brown, Pfeister, Koufax, and Covelski. Here is the team:

Once you did not get the pitchers you wanted you were smart in going for a little more hitting. If you have Musial and Cuyler you can't really afford 4 stud starters.
