How do you do this? all my low priced relief always get the bigger workload. Hate to spend on Eck but it's a 100 mil league and if I can get him the innings I hear he is pretty good. But getting him innings... it's not luck,is it?

My first rule is to avoid low priced relief, but there are some decent values in the right circumstances (Osinkme, Garman, Lasher, Dreis, Worrell). In a $100M league, with most of the big bats out there, <$1M guys will usually perform poorly, not worth the $ IMHO.

Without a team link it is difficult to help out much. Howver, too many settings and HAL gets confused and makes bizzare decisions, not enough and you do not get the right guys at the right time. It is still more art than science to me.

Put Eck on 1-2 innings and coming in in the 8th , avoid blowouts . Then do not list him as closer and he will come in at the right time .

It would seem Eck settings are the least of your worries.

If I read the wire correctly there are some good opportunities for improvement:

Phillippe?
Horton?
Chapman?
Ames and Key with Scott on the wire
Seminik (sp)
Boggs
Newhouser

I suggest three RPs, Newhouser, McDowell and Eck. Set Eck to Close, not B4 8th, make HAL use the other 2 guys by having no other pure RPs, no settings.

I've been having better success as of late with 3 solid relievers suited well for my home park.

Set one to close do not use before 8th
Another to setup do not use before the 6th
And the third one (preferrably an R4 reliever) with no settings

With this combination, HAL rarely uses anyone else and the job usually gets done properly.

Then again, maybe I've just been lucky ...... :lol:

I agree wholeheartedly with Sschu. The ONLY way I have gotten cosistantly reliable relief management by HAL is to limit his options, and he loves to use the Eck as God intended. The two other workhorse relievers and the Eck is expensive, but reliable.

I was hoping for bullpen advice but sschu got me thinking and when muttdoc confirmed I took action. Changes made overnight. I start the season tonight, what do you think?

Unfortunately, I think Harris, Bahnsen and Pina are gonna get more innings than you'd be hoping for.
