yeah, but when your starter and your first and second backups at positions are injured, it's tough to put a decent team on the field.

Still, playing on the road that much is equally tough.

Ugh, Lost Anderson for 3 games in the top of the 9th in a game I won 12-4!

Got the rest of the guys back at least. <sigh>

had to drop howell. he has killed me in a handful of games and had to cut him loose. I hate to drop players but dropping him gave me the righty reliever i need and by tweaking the pitcher setting on the player cards I think I will get the relievers in that I want to pitch.

Frustrating to see my record with the run diff. that I have. hope to turn it around with a short home stand.

Josh Beckett

Some things just don't add up. Josh Beckett has given up 28 hits and only 2 home runs. But he has given up 20 ER's. 34 batters have reached base and 20 of them have scored. 58% of his baserunners score.

For the rest of my pitching staff they let 38% of their baserunners score. While offensively, 35% of my baserunners score.

Beckett looks like he is just giving up hits in bunches. He seems to have a lot of 1-2-3 innings and others where everything falls apart. So far the hits and walks just aren't scattered enough. I suspect that is due to chance alone and will even out over time. What about Petit's 11 homeruns allowed in 36.1 innings? On the road he has coughed up 7 in 10.2 innings - seems to be a much better pitcher when you are at home in Fenway.

Actually there can be a lot of statistical oddities this early in the season. And it seems I did speak too soon Beckett pitched well last night and got his first win.

With that in mind, Tori Hunter is just not hitting. I don't understand why. His production is way below where it should be. I'd be winning every game if he would hit like he is supposed too.

(OK now that I've said that, Hunter will do well tonight, right?)

:)

yeah, right. The siren song of the SOM manager. "If only..." We've all been there. :P

Hunter isn't very good v RHP. Have you been facing a bunch?

Yup

Hunter's faced righties 60% of the time. Even against lefties he has been abysmal thus far.

Well, you can figure he'll turn it around against LHP at least.

As for us, I thought we were clear of the injury bug as we started the series with Title Town with NO injuries...... It lasted til the 5th. :(

Gerut goes down for 10 and then Utley goes down for 2 in the third game. Unfortunately we're facing Lilly in game one. I could use those two LHBs against him.

Man, this team just isn't *that* injury prone! Brutal. Hopefully we're getting it all out of the way for the whole season in the first two weeks.

I went back and looked we played the first two games without injury and haven't played a whole game since with our entire lineup. Ouch.
