Is Albert really an obvious pick for everybody? If I had picked first I'm not sure I would have taken him, though those stats are pretty gaudy. My thinking is that there are plenty of big hitting first basemen, so better to go with a solid defensive/offensive guy up the middle. Is this nuts? I go that way in the 70's most of the time, but don't play the 20XX games much. Anyone else think this way?

I would say, yes, Albert Pujols is clearly the best player and worth the #1 overall pick. He should outperform any other hitter regardless of stadium. The rest of the pack is close (and I would have loved to be the #2 pick if you were #1), but he's just too good to pass up with no salary cap.
