Spring of 69 - DRAFT COMPLETE - LEAGUE LOADING E to W

Our historical single season sets

Postby AllStarInc » Wed May 06, 2009 10:16 am

I saw that proxy streak kick in! That was NICE!

We still have a handful of guys not using proxies. If we could get them to throw a few into the holding tank it looks like we could blitz through a couple rounds.

Gordie, do you know how to do a proxy? It's pretty easy. Try setting up a couple and see how you do. Let us know if you have questions.

"[b:aa31aa754d]Pinch hitting for Pedro Borbon...... MANNY MOTA! [/b:aa31aa754d]"

I just watched "Airplane" again last week (for about the 100th time) i was reading notes about the movie and it was mentioned that Mota and Borbon were never teammates during their careers :D

There's a great sequence in the '72 Vintage World Series film where Sparky Anderson brings in Borbon to pitch in a key situation vs. Oakland with a man on first. Borbon trots in and Anderson tells him very clearly to not worry about the man of first, just get the batter. he says "he's not gonna run". Well Borbon starts to throw over to first and gets all flustered right away and walks a man (or gives up a hit I forget). Sparky comes back out and hooks him, saying "helluva job, Petey". And as soon as Borbon he walks off and Clay Caroll is coming in Anderson starts talking to Bench about how he told him specifically to do one thing and he did another.

At least it was interesting to me. And yes, they never played together.

And I must say that Manny Mota is a lot better looking now than during his playing days. He was once part of the all-ugly team.

Drafting Stadiums

Postby GordieHowe » Wed May 06, 2009 9:47 pm

Must a stadium be taken in the first 20 rounds, or the first 24 rounds?

Gordie, I was wondering the exact same thing. I'm guessing it can be anytime within the first 24 rounds?

YES - 24 rounds - that was the plan - stadium can come any time within 24 rounds.

Tell your friends and neighbors the last 4 rounds will be here! Only 4 of us visiting here regularly.

Travel Day

Postby GordieHowe » Thu May 07, 2009 10:01 am

I'm going out of town in about 2 hours for the rest of the day. I've loaded some picks in the proxy, but rounds 21-24 will have to be on Friday.

The Plan - Schedule

Postby GFDWARF07 » Thu May 07, 2009 10:21 am

Based on schedules, our best case scenario is to get through Round 20 today.

I am leaving for a couple days tomorrow morning around 8am, but will stay connected as best I can. I will be back Sunday by Noon. LMBombers is leaving for several days next week I think he said and Risden has some unplanned pressing family matters to attend to the next few days.

The bottom line is we will get through the next few rounds as soon as we can, but we need to be patient, it may even take a week or two worst case scenario.

Anyone is welcome to send clearly arranged/prioritized proxies to me and I will treat them honorably and execute them when it's your turn. If you will be around and can check here, then no reason to send proxies.

If we bog down we will simply wait, but will finish the 24 rounds as soon as we can and get the league set-up.

Thanks all!

Dan

Thanks!
