Damn--only 44 years old. RIP.

One of my favorite ballplayers from the 80s--even when the Twinkies in that stupid dome were beating Whitey's Cards in 87.

Sad day indeed.I'm from St.louis and a Cards fan as well but I always enjoyed watching Kirby play with class and enthusiasm.He really seemed like a good man.He will be missed.-olwill

I'll say it again and again, Kirby was one of my first true favorites. He's got a special place in my heart, and always will...
