ATG IV 16 event Franchise League

Postby AeroDave10 » Fri May 08, 2009 1:50 pm

Thanks. I was getting tired of DH leagues in ATG, which mostly features players who played without a DH.

Time for 2cityfan to make the rules and divisions.

Rules for ATG4 FL season13 -

Postby 2cityfan » Fri May 08, 2009 9:30 pm

Named after my favorite Billy Joel song, this is the "Only the good [i:9fc946e897]Cy[/i:9fc946e897] Young" League :-) :

Rules are going to be easy to comply with and build a team, you guys have really taxed me the last 12 seasons trying to keep up with all the creative and challenging twists you guys came up with.. ':P'

1.) You have exclusive rights to all the players on your 4 era rosters.. rights extend from Auto Draft through the entire season.. You must keep a minimum of [b:9fc946e897]20[/b:9fc946e897] players from one of your 4 carded teams on your roster at all times..

example, only the Yankees can have Babe Ruth...he's not eligible for the Red Sox, only the Cards can have Hornsby ect....

2.) Open Free Agent Pool is players from White Sox, Cubs, Braves, Reds and other teams that are not assigned to one of the 12 managers this season..

Minimum eligibility for a free agent to be on your roster:

for position players, minimum of 600 PA's with your team
for starting pitchers minimum of 25 decisions with your team
for relief pitchers minimum of 75 IP's with your team
if a pitcher has both SP/RP ability, then he needs to meet one of the 2 criteria above

example, Bret Saberhagen could pitch for Boston, he had 42 decisions as a Red Sox player and is not carded to any of the 11 other managers in the league

3.) At least one pitcher on your team must have won the Cy Young award.
He did not have to win it while a member of your team..he just has to of won it. example, Bruce Sutter (carded as a Cub) meets the usage threshold and can play for the Cardinals.. he won the Cy young as a Cub, but the Cardinals can use him to meet the one Cy Young award winner criteria.. This Cy Young award winner requirement extends for the entire season. So if the Cards decide to drop Sutter, they can if they still have Bob Gibson who also won it. If they don't have any other Cy Young award winning pitchers, then Sutter has to stay on the Cardinals roster (not a big sacrifice)

I checked and every team has at least 2 choices to meet this criteria (except the Pirates - I hope Vern Law works out for you)..

Since the league is set up for waivers you should put any desired free agents that could play for other teams in this league at the top of your autodraft list.. and we will let HAL sort out who wins their free agent bids

Pick any home field that corresponds to one of your 4 era teams

[u:9fc946e897]Divisions (using geography and traditional rivalries)[/u:9fc946e897]

EAST

Yankees
Red Sox
Phillies
Orioles

CENTRAL

Tigers
Indians
Pirates
Cardinals

WEST

Dodgers
A's

Please clarify the following... Does this mean that we have to carry a minimum of 20 players from one era, or does it mean we must carry 20 players at all times from the four eras mixed?

Cy Young List.. and clarification

Postby 2cityfan » Sat May 09, 2009 8:19 pm

point 1 - sorry if there was confusion majicmg.. you need a minimum of 20 carded players on your roster at all times - they can come from any of the 4 era teams you have to select from (not all from one era... that would suck)

point 2 - below is the Cy Young list.. I may have missed a few on this list but it should give you something to work with.. the non-carded players meet the usage threshold to be eligible for the indicated team..

Would Cy Young meet this requirement for the Red Sox? Granted, he never actually won the award, but still... :D

Mistakes found---so kinda need a list of every Cy young award winner in the history of the award

Lonborg not listed as eligible for the Red Sox -the team he won the award for
Clemens -has to be eligible to play for the Yankees not

Just a couple

clarification on Cy Young list..

Postby 2cityfan » Sun May 10, 2009 6:28 pm

remember, in this league you get exclusive rights to your carded players.. so Clemens can only be a Red Sox pitcher because he is carded as a Red Sox pitcher; Lonborg is carded to the Phillies..

Pitchers like Fergie Jenkins count because we do not have any managers assigned to take the Cubs this season.. so his card can be picked up as a free agent and he meets the minimum threshold to be a Red Sox... other examples.. Steve Stone carded as a White Sox... we don't have a manager assigned to the White Sox this season.. and he meets the requirements for the Orioles, and Giants.. ect...
