Kirby Puckett dead at 44.

Passed away today from the stroke he suffered over the weekend. Way too young. Sad... :cry:

As a lifelong Twins fan, this is a dark day. My 2-year old son has a Kirby bobblehead in his room.

That is sad, just heard about the stroke, used to love the way the guy played, swing at every thing hit it hard and bust your butt on every play. Very sad, bummer. :cry:

Being a White Sox fan I always hated seeing Kirby step to the plate . He was a one man wrecking crew against the pale hose . Its a shame , he was a very good player , even if he did play for the Twins . Rest in Peace Kirby !

Yes I can safely say for all the luverne group which is Minnesota it does hurt a little to have Kirby gone, but the memories are great. I would say all the group saw Kirby at least 5 times in person and everyday on cable.

Maybe "we'll see you all tommorrow night"

My most interesting Kirby Puckett story is from his college days. He and Lance Johnson both attended Triton (Junior) College in River Grove, Illinois at the same time.

But, even though both of them were very good defensive CF in the majors, neither one of them played CF at Triton College.

When asked why neither one of them played CF at Triton, he answered "because the other guy (insert name here) was better".

Gee, I wonder what his rating in strat would've been??? :lol:

Triton ? That brings back memories . Of Maywood Park mostly. I used to go there all the time with a bud that was an owner , trainer . He always got the inside dope and we won alot of money . :lol:

My wife went there back in the early 80's and I've got a couple of buddies that still work there today .........

As a huge Twins fan, like you couldn't guess that since I name all my teams Maple Grove Twins, this a very sad day.

During the 80's I attended about 30-40 games yearly so I saw Puck in person numerous times. Probably the best bad ball hitter I've ever seen, he would take a ball off his shoe tops and drive it in the gap in one AB and the next one he'd tomahawk a pitch over his head out of the park. Watching someone who had a body like a fire hydrant cover the ground he did and make those fantastic HR robbing catches was just amazing!!!

One last thing I'll say about his playing days, having seen him play in literally hundreds of ballgames everyday he gave 100%, always had a smile on his face and made the game more enjoyable for everyone around him.
