I think these players are worth mentioning as providing outstanding value per salary dollar. These are the Overachiever $.75ers for 1985:

Brusstar -- BFD

Acker --- Bums

Mohorcic --- Mango Men
Stubbs -- Mango Men (right up there with Castillo)

Moore -- Hakers

O'Neill --Knights
DiPino -- Knights
Howell -- Knights
Castillo -- Knights

Camp -- Canucks

Lopez -- Express
Mirabella -- Express
Romero -- Express
Duncan -- Express

Spillner -- Murphs
Young -- Murphs (outstanding production)

Pastore -- Fatboys
Frazier -- Fatboys
O.Jones --- Fatboys

Garber -- Beulahs

L.Anderson -- Breakers
Dayley -- Breakers
Valle -- Breakers
J.Browne -- Breakers

these men deserve an "Overachiever" award !!

Thanks again, Albert.

As usual, nobody on my team stands out. They just continue to fight their way to medicroty.

Second half will bode well. Interesting splits again on Whitaker. Mike Marshall continues to put up solid numbers. ODB and K-Mac have slowed down some. I know both of thier years too and they are outhitting their cards. Really wish I could get Ashby and Heath on track. Why they both continue to suck during the same year is beyond me. Orel and Bert have come around after a real rough start. SP has been solid enough to keep me in games. Howe has been in and out of re-hap this season.

In a move looking ahead, Kevin "Sea" Bass has been told to walk. Gary Ward has been signed to replace him in hopes of making it to first base sometimes. Kevin wasn't too good at that.

Good luck to all in the second half.

After a rough start, my team seems to be finally developing their own identity.

My rotation has been the rock of my team throughout the 1st half, as 4 of my 5 SPs have ERAs in the 3's. Bannister, Ryan and Pastore will be relied on heavily in the 2nd half. The previously volatile pen has stabilized somewhat with the addition Odell Jones. Still possibly looking to upgrade that area somewhat before the stretch run.

My hitting, which was awful early on, has also bounced back. Brett and Grich are having All-Star seasons. Mumphrey and Moseby are their usual solid, if not spectacular, selves. Also, the early returns on new acquisitions Walker and Gladden have been VERY encouraging. Herndon and Sax have been mashing LHP regularly all year.

The outlook, as usual, seems better for us in the 2nd half than the 1st half. I suppose that's the nature of the 80's game. The more you learn about your team, the better idea you have of how to make them better. That's the way it's SUPPOSED to be, anyway :) Well, time will tell.

Still loving this league.

In a short announcement issued by the franchise, Ten manager BigAlric said: 'We thank Mark for all his efforts in a difficult season for this team. But seeing that we probably won't make the playoffs, we had to look ahead and decided to add a proven RP in B. Stanley, who will give us at least one more quality season after this summer. Plus we got the possibility to further strengthen our roster for next saeason by acquiring an additional draft pick. I hate to lose games, and I hate to lose players, but that's the business we're all part of.'

[quote:40919414ef]Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

This will be short and to the point.

- I don't post here that often, or on a lot of the other SOM forums because there's just too many individual SOM forums for me to check. If I patrolled every forum regularly I'd never get any work done.

- It's a whole new ballgame this year. Strat-O-Matic has my full-time attention now.

- I will devote time to the 80's game in particular, immediately, once the 2006 game is off and running.

This was the plan before you posted this thread. I hope you'll pardon me that after I've given you some time to read this reply of mine, I will delete this thread because it's unnecessary. I respect the passion here but it's overkill; I was coming here whether or not this thread existed. The 80's game will get its due attention, "in due time" - which means immediately after the 2006 game has settled in.

Thanks.

Just wanted to stick Bernie's post in a safe thread as he indicated he was going to remove the thread he posted this in once we had enough time to read it.

I've put some inquiries out there to a couple of you. I've also listed the assets I have to offer in a deal, in a leaguemail for everyone.
