Will this team survive in Petco?

Postby terpfan61764 » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:26 pm

Trying to play different parks each time I play. This is the first time I've played in Petco. Wasn't exactly sure how to set up my team but this is what I came up with.

Any advice on making my first trip to Petco a success? Other parks in division are Ameriquest, Petco and Yankee.

Yeah, Jeter and Beltran won't give you much offense in Petco. People say they are both overpriced. I'd dump them if I had to but try to trade them.

Your bullpen does need some upgrading. I'm gonna take a look at the FA list and see if I can help since I have been helped so much.

Scratch that idea...I don't know how to access your FA list. It went to mine.

Piching is fine and the BP is OK. You don't need much in Petco especially with the front of your rotation.

The problem is the offence. I don't mean to sound pesimistic but there is not one guy in your lineup that I would recomend in Petco. I also assume it's too late to get the guys I would recomend.

[u:58d267dc71][b:58d267dc71]Salvage strategy- [/b:58d267dc71][/u:58d267dc71]

1) I know it's been recomended that you ditch Beltran and Jeter but at this point I would stay with them and hope that they play well. The reason is it gives you the D you need up the middle along with Castillo to minimize runs scored by the other team. I also assume you will not find better replacements. Unless Kotsay and Rollins are available....stay put.

2) Look for players with high doubles and possibly get a few platoons going.

3) Manny is your biggest bargaining chip....I may shop him around and see if you can package him with Jeter or Beltran to improve at those positions. Again...look for Rollins or Kotsay.

Bottom line is you need to players better suited for Petco. There are plenty of posts on this strategy but they are popular players so they may or may not be there.

Good Luck

id def hold onto jeter and castillo........

see if overbay is avail for 1b...he would be solid in petco......
do all you can to trade manny for someone with natural hr's and some better def.................
also you can afford to trade 1 of your SP, since in petco you can get away with avg pitching....
