Well, our team, as stated previously, has underperformed in most ways. We have some individuals that have done as well (and a couple better) than you would expect (Anderson, Overbay, Sandoval, Sheets, Lowe) but many who haven't. The hitters that are doing well are platoon guys so you would epxect them to be close to, or over, their total season stats from last year.

OTOH, Utley, A Rod and, especially Sizemore have struggled. Sizemore in particular has been brutal. No power at all and playing in his normal home park. It's tough when you're paying 8 mil for a guy hitting .215 with a 300 ob and zero power. :(

The 11 blow saves and six losses from Balfour is the other major disappointment. His ratio and ERA are acceptable, but he's just not getting the job done often enough. Giese has also not been as good as one might expect.

If we can get our big 3 and Balfour going, I think we'll make our way into the playoffs, but if not, it's touch and go.

With 54 games to play I feel OK being just 3 games off the wild card and 5 back of the division leader. The Pumpers are +42 in run differential but just .500 at 54-54. Injuries have been a problem with Furcal, Hairston, and Drew as expected. We are also weak on the road and in 1-run games. What was I thinking going with Ross and Mathis behind the plate??But I have been able to win at home. If the 1-run games even out, I avoid injury, and that positive run differential really means something then I may be there at the end (although there is a lot of congestion around that #4 spot overall).

Another typical night for Sizemore tonight. Game one misses two 1-9 bphrs and then a 1-5 single. The way he's hit so far this year, he's *due* for a couple rolls to break his way!

Game 2, misses a 1-14 2b, but actually *does* get a hit and a walk!

Game 3 rolls everything on the pitchers card.

<sigh> It would be nice for the guy to do *something*

Pulled the trigger on this. It has been a long time maybe since 2001 since I have made so many moves. I am hoping that this will generate a little more obp. for me which will result in more runs and more wins. Blackburn held up in his first outing and Reyes kept things going. Even with this movenent I am only four games out of the WC and Bay Chili is due for at least a mini slump. We will see. I get two lefties tonight! :D

Well, it made your offense better both ways, but you're still *much* better v LHP. In fact, I'm toying with dropping my LHSPs completely. Anyone want Perez for a RHSP of similar ability?

Your overall rating dropped due to the difference in pitching and D however. You really have an unbalanced rotation with Hallday and a bunch of sub 2 mil guys.

Bay Chill is cleaning up on LHP, he's .500 v RHP. Not sure why people keep throwing LH against him. :? Still, 19-6 v LHSP? I'm not sure he's *that* good! ;)

More fun with Sizemore tonight. It's comical at this point.

Game one - Actually hits a HR off of his card! 1-17 even got a split! Totally amazing. Then misses a 1-6 single his other two ABs where outs off of his card.

Game two - Strike out off of his card. Misses 1-4 single. Misses 1-11 single. Misses 1-4 single. The last three off of the pitcher's card.

Game three- Misses 1-4 single. Actually gets a split! 1-8 double off of his own card! Flyout in between a HR and a 2b, strike out on his own card.

Summary 2-12, 1 HR, 1 2b. Misses five splits that were hit/outs and gets one.

He's now hitting .210 with a .299 OB  and a .362 Slugging. Those numbers are 58, 175 and 140 points below what he posted in real life. :(

Amazing.

The Sizemore Watch continues...

1. He has, apparently, a break out game! 3-3 with a 2b and an RBI!
First up, 2b 1-10 (si the rest) and gets the 2b!
Next up, gets a 1-15 single!
Finally, a LFx 1-6 single and he gets that! Not bad, three rolls on the Pitcher card and three splits! Wow. :P

2. Back to normal... :( 0-4 2 K's
K on his card, misses 1-4 hit,
ground out on his card,
strikeout on his card. Rolled the 2 column three times. He needs the three column. :(

3. 0-2, 1 BB, 2 K's
K first ab, just misses walk off of Billingsley,
Walk of of his card.
K off of Miller, again, missing triple by one number

Summary 3-9, 1 BB, 4 K's, 6 pitcher rolls, 4 Hitter rolls. Oddly enough, all the hits came off of the pitcher's card.

Misses 1-9 hr, settles for Sac Fly

Game three 0-3 BB, 2 K's

The guy needs a new hitting coach. We'll have to find him one!

more Grady:

1. 1-4, 1 bi
- 1-6 3bx, gets it!
- GO on his card
- Misses 1-9 bphr (of course)
- FO on pitcher

2. 1-4 (versus Sabathia, not too surprising)
- Misses si 1-1
- misses 1-6 hit on a LFx
- single on his card - good column!
- Has chance to win or tie game in 9th versus Rivera, but rolls on Rivera's card (K of course)

3. 1-3, BB
- 3-7 fly out. Ouch, right between two good numbers
- BB on Lincecum
- 2b on CFx (1-6)
- Misses 1-4 si (Px)

On the night, 3-11, BB, 2b. Good for Sizemore. Misses 4 splits, gets 2.
12 Rolls 8 on Pitcher's card. 3 of 4 rolls in his "good" column including the missed bp hr.

We've brought in a new "personal" hitting coach for Grady.

We're expecting an improvement going forward! ;)
