JaserD 2005 Tournament Rules

....co-comissionser - Anthony Pisano / Riggodrill assisted in the wings by JaserD !

1) If you enter a Team with a non-compliant stadium (not one of the 4 listed below), you will have to move that team to another league (non-tny) and create a new team using the compliant stadium. NO EXCEPTIONS.
2) If you enter a team into your league and then back out of the league for whatever reason, you will be DISQUALIFIED from participating in the Tourna anent. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Each of these formats will be 4 rounds using the 4 stadiums posted in the rules (Safeco, Yankee Stadium, Ameriquest, Fenway). The only change in each format will be the number of advancers in rd 1 to get us to 48 teams in Rd 2:

6 Leagues (72 teams) 8 teams/lg advance (4 playoff + 4 other best records). Run differential and then a pick 3 (highest to lowest) will be used as tie-breakers.

Divisions will be based on LOTTO draw for ROUND 1 only

Rd 2 will be 48 teams (4 leagues) with Top 6 advancing, [u:c478740166]Rd 3 will be 24 teams (2 leagues) with Top 6 advancing and the Finals League will be winner take all.[/u:c478740166]

Here's a reminder of the original rules:

DRAFTING RULES
All leagues will be played by straight TSN auto-draft rules (no live drafts, no pick 3's etc.) with 1 exception (see Stadium rule below).

NUMBER OF ROUNDS
The Invitational will be a total of 4 rds. Managers will advance to the next rd of play based on their finish in the existing rd. Advancement will be as follows:

Rd 1: 80 Mil Cap w/ DH (See above for advancement)

Rd 2: 80 Mil Cap NO DH

(48 managers; 4 leagues) Top 6 best records in each league advance (4 playoff teams +2)

Rd 3: 60 Mil Cap w/DH

(24 managers; 2 leagues) Top 6 best records in each league advance to Finals (4 playoff teams + 2)

[b:c478740166]Finals:
80 Mil Cap w/DH
(12 managers; 1 league) Champion is crowned[/b:c478740166]

TIE-BREAKERS
Tie-breakers for advancement within a league will be the same as TSN rules (a. H2H record b. run differential). In the event of a tie in both H2H record and run differential, a Pick 3 will be used as Final tie-breaker with higher pick 3 number advancing.

Tie-breakers for possible wildcard spots between teams in different leagues will be a) run differential and b. Pick 3 with highest Pick 3 number advancing.

[b:c478740166]STADIUMS
The only rule change to straight TSN rules will be use of Stadiums. In a 48 manager Invitational, you will ONLY be able to pick from these 4 stadiums to play in each round:

A) Fenway Park 16-16, 3-9
B) Safeco Field 1-1, 13-7
C) Yankee Stadium 4-4, 10-10
D) Ameriquest Stadium 15-15-, 16-16[/b:c478740166]

THE TWIST
You may NOT use the SAME stadium twice in the Invitational. Those Managers who advance to the Finals will have played in 3 of the above-mentioned parks and will HAVE to play in the 4th park not yet played in.

These NEW parks were chosen to add a subtle but huge strategy wrinkle to the Invitational than that from pervious years. You'll notice a High SINGELS park w/ a Rigthy HR slant, a LOW Singles park w/ LEFTY HR slant, Low singles/Balanced HR, and HITTERS HIGH SINGEL HIGH HR's park. Choose the order of your parks wisely as you'll have no choice in the Finals and will be at the strategy whim of the park you have left (and the other 11 managers will know what park you have to play in)!

If you have to play Fenway against 11 Ameriquest Teams in the Finals you may be in trouble (or you may have an advantage depending on how you look at it!)

LEAGUE PARTICIPANTS AFTER RD 1
After Rd 1, I will rank all the advancers 1-48 based on record. Like the NCAA Tny, a serpentine placement of the rankings will be used to determine which league which managers will play in for rds 2 and 3. Divisions will be first-come first serve (until the Finals - see below).

Ex. (after rd 1)
Rank 1 - League 1
Rank 2 - League 2
Rank 3 - League 3
Rank 4 - League 4
Rank 5 - League 4
Rank 6 - League 3
Rank 7 - League 2
Rank 8 - League 1
etc. etc.

[b:c478740166]FINALS - DIVISIONAL ALIGNMENT
Since strategy will be dictated by your remaining ballpark in the Finals, we will do a Pick 3 for Divisional Alignments in the Finals (only the Finals). Highest to lowest based on pick 3 number with 4 Highest in the East and 4 lowest in the West.[/b:c478740166]

[b:c478740166]PRIZES
$50 donated by JaserD to the overall winner (Champion of the Fianls League)[/b:c478740166]

Just a reposting of an earlier post to get everyone excited. It has been fun and hope to be there to participate. Either way, if everyone is willing, hope the finals can start prior to the 2006 release.

It looks like we won't have any Yankee Stadiums in the finals-It looks like most players felt that was a safe choice for advancing. Half the teams will be playing in Ameriquest.

There are some big names in the finals. I don't like the fact that I have to create an Ameriquest team but I took my chances with all the parks I was more comfortable to move forward so I'll deal.

I'll have to play in Fenway and I [b:f4f18e6c2e]never[/b:f4f18e6c2e] do well in that park, regardless of what year it is. I've tried 1 Fenway in '05 and bombed. It should be fun though, looking forward to it!

Woody, I'm in the 7th slot, 7 games back from Stoney for the 6th and final spot. Nine games left. I think your bet is a safe one.
