NEW STRAT KEEPER LEAGUE

Prospects

Postby bvargus » Thu Jun 04, 2009 5:39 pm

Please keep in mind that our definition of "Prospects" may be different than some other leagues:

[quote:7246610bc8]Each team will be able to select 3 prospects, which is any player who DID NOT RECEIVE A CARD ON THE SN website and is the property of an MLB team. [/quote:7246610bc8]

So a player who has had MLB AB's or IP's can still be eigible, as long as they didn't get a card in 2008...

[quote:5712686a7b="Ineluki"]Ndowdy - I am beyond pissed that you took PNC

NDOWDY - PNC
INELUKI - Yankee Stadium

Sorry, I know that sucks as you were picking fairly high and could have had a real chance. I've actually never played PNC to my recollection, but my draft started working out kind of early on to be pretty lefty oriented with hitting and pitching.

Next year's Yankee stadium is probably going to be a 1-20 HR for left handers and they're also going to have to ignore a W and turn it into an N to make up all the homers statistically. Just 1-20 won't do it for the way balls are flying over the RF wall this season. :) Isn't J. Damon of all people already on a pace for about 40 :)

CENTRAL TEAMS CAN LOAD

Postby bvargus » Sat Jun 06, 2009 1:50 pm

The East teams are now all loaded. Contrary to what I said before, the teams don't have to load in any particular order, as long [b:ca3b58b4f5][i:ca3b58b4f5]as only the four Central teams[/i:ca3b58b4f5][/b:ca3b58b4f5] load next. That means the following can now load.
5 - Steven Davis
6 - WPWangfuddle
7 - Ineluki
8 -litangel

(You should all have the password already, but if not, let me know.)

Guys,

Let's try to keep the comments in this thread so we can reserve the other thread for picks. It will make things easier to follow, and make record keeping much easier as well. Not a big deal at all, but I think it will be nice.

Billy can correct me, but as far as I know, trading prospects for players is allowed. We are allowed 10 prospects, but from drafting, you will only ever get 6, as you have to cut or promote them in 2 years, so it makes sense that you can stockpile them. You do, however, have to cut someone from your 40 man roster, or trade someone within 24 hours, as you can't have more than 40 on the active roster.

As far as the delay goes, I think the built in rules of skipping people during drafts are enough of a punishment. Obviously, sometimes life things come up that you have to deal with first, with no warning. (my condolences on your losses, Ineluki and ndowdy) If you're planning on being away from a computer for a while, however, just post something about it here, as it can be frustrating to others when delays occur. Particularly during drafts and when leagues are forming.

We still need Ineluki and Steven Davis to create their teams and join the league, then we can start loading the west. There is no real rush, as we won't be able to start until next Monday, anyway.

This type of league is definitely more work than a typical one, but also way more fun. Already, we've seen many different strategies employed, and many more types of trades can be made than in a regular league. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

Since this is going to be our discussion thread, I will repost my trade feeler here:

Just so folks know, I would also trade drafted players for draft picks. I would trade Cuddyer, Sheffield, Giese, Cormier, Wiggington, and Ortiz for 3rd round picks. Add Cano, Cora, Hafner, Keppinger, and Street to that list for a 2nd round pick before mine (I draft 11th in that round), and the pick is really soon, a couple more guys might come into play.

Just to concur with WP, trades of drafted players for prospect draft picks are allowed. But if a team's roster goes over 40 players, they will have to cut to get back to 40.

Remember, we are now on a three-hour clock. If a pick is not made in that time, the next person in line can post their pick.

Ow, I really wanted Tillman, That made my choice tough, about 4 guys I wanted equally. I wish I had about 10 more prospect picks, I enjoy the crapshoot of minor leaguers.

MLB DRAFT

Postby bvargus » Tue Jun 09, 2009 5:49 pm

I was asked about the possible impact of today's MLB draft on our draft, so I'm re-posting here what I had already put on the draft thread:
[quote:12bc27f755] CLARIFICATION w MLB DRAFT PENDING 06 Jun 2009 14:41

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just want to clarify that the Prospect Draft is "sealed" once it begins, so that only those players who were eligible when it began can be drafted. In other words, (WITH NO FIRST ROUND CLOCK) it is conceivable someone could hold off making a pick and then try to take a player who was picked in the upcoming draft June 9th--but those players will not be eligible.
