Hmm, I think the most common move by mortal managers in this situation would have been to replace Martinez with Cairo and be done.
However, I think in this case, HAL took into account that Gio Gonzalez (9L) pitcher was in. With Morneau being shifted towards righties, HAL decided that Morneau would be the right guy to replace. Obviously, that is still very questionable as Morneau is still a solid player that would not generally be taken out of ballgames.
