[quote:d9d5cd672c="Madigan33"]Is LaPorta a valid prospect pick? He has AB's for this year.[/quote:d9d5cd672c]
Yes,
Andrew Bailey and Sean West also have stats for this year, and they are elibigible as well.
Seeing as this is the 3rd time this has come up in the past week I'm going to post the eligibilty rules and explain them 1 more time:
For clarification a prospect for this and subsequent drafts, is defined as:
[quote:d9d5cd672c]Any player signed with an MLB franchise prior to the start of this draft, [b:d9d5cd672c]that has no playing expierience at the Major league level prior to [color=red:d9d5cd672c]the start of the current MLB season[/color:d9d5cd672c][/b:d9d5cd672c] ( in this case 2009) that is not currently on another team's roster is eligible. [/quote:d9d5cd672c]
Simply put, if they played in 2008, like Alcides Escobar, they are [b:d9d5cd672c]NOT [/b:d9d5cd672c]eligible, however any rookie called up during this current 2009 MLB season that is playing right now, is eligible for our draft provided they have no MLB service time in a previous year. ala West, Bailey and LaPorta.
This will be the case in every following prospect draft, so I hope you all understand the rule now, if not please ask me again.
