All we need now is someone who knows what they are doing to get the SOMDraft sorted out and we can get this thing going. IIRC, MrBBW volunteered to do this... As for excluding the other eras, might not be necessary if the site shows what year the cards are based on since we know we're using db 1888-1920.

Anyway, as a refresher: This league uses deadball (db, 1888-1920) era players only, no salary cap, 5-10-20 waivers, and DH (so Hal will keep the pitchers in - I'm *not* going to see Walter Johnson pulled for a PH in the sixth inning of a 0-0 game!!!!!!!!).

Once we get this thing on the road we can discuss the second league, preWWII (pre, 1921-1946).

The first thing we need to do is establish a draft order..... I'll ask for a randomizer to be run in the ATG forum. Note that the number you are on the signup sheet is your randomizer number.

Hopefully MrBaseball World can take the administration duties..... I won't be able to until later tonight and I haven't done it before. I'm sure I can muddle my way through it, but having someone who's done it before will getting us moving quicker. Maybe even this afternoon????

What's the wait time to draft with somdraft?

I might mention here that I live in Asia and am 11 hours ahead of EST.

I'm not sure what you mean by wait time but the way it works is once we have our draft order and MrBBW or me gets everyones name loaded and "account" activated, whoever has the #1 pick will be up. It will stay on him until he picks. The #2 is up and so on.

I think I've done 7 or 8 SOMDrafts in the past couple of years and while we had "gentlemens agreements" to try to stick to 3 hours or so, I don't think we've ever skipped anyone due to time.

This process is time consuming and could take more than a week....especially considering we are doing 28 rounds, but I'm quite confident you'll all have a good time.

Also it customary to "turn off the clock" between 9PM-9AM EST meaning you aren't expected to check in during that time, but please feel free too.

Also, MrBBW may be able to answer this better than I, but even if we do set a clock and it goes over, I still don't think the proxies fire automatically. I think you would have to manually make the picks.

I motion for a gentlemens agreeement to pass no one unless it gets absurd (24 hours). I'll give my word that I'll check in at least every couple hours, barring some major catastrophe.

Also remember life happens sometimes and SOM can be a low priority to other life events.

So there's no time limit to draft. That's what I wanted to know.

By nature of my work, I'm near a computer much of my waking hours so I'm unlikely to hold up a draft, but realize that my sleep hours run from about now (it's midnight here) until about eight hours from now... Or 1-9 pm EST.

I think we can manage this fine.

nymets99 - serpentine. Round 1: 1-12; Round 2: 12-1, Round 3: 1-12, etc.

Randomizer has been run. Here are the results:

6, 8, 12, 2, 7, 4, 10, 5, 11, 9, 1, 3,

So Draft order is:

"Serpentine". In other words the order flip flops for round 2 and then alternates back and forth. Even rounds go in order of 1 to 12. Odd rounds from 12 to 1.

I am going to opt out and let moose take my slot. I will set up the league though in 15 minutes or so. The site does not show the year of the cards but allows you to click on the name and links to the card info that shows the year.
