- Game (2005)
- Team Name (Screaming Eeeeeeeeeees)
- Game # (137)
- What happened
3-3, top of the eighth, men on first and third, two outs, Travis Hafner at the plate:

HAL brings in Nate Field (2L) to face Hafner. Fields gets Hafner out to end the inning. Then, to start the ninth inning, with Jack Wilson, Jeff Bagwell and Jermaine Dye due up, HAL yanks Fields and brings in Alan Embree.

All settings regular/normal

- What you think would've been better?

HAL should have just brought in Embree (1L) to face Hafner (7R) to begin with. I didn't mind him bringing in Embree to face Wilson (2R), Bagwell (4R) and Dye (1L), although he actually did give up a tie-breaking homer to Wilson, but I essentially wasted Fields on one batter, when Embree would have been a better choice to get Hafner onto his weak side. Neither Embree nor Fields had pitched in the previous game.

Game: 2005
Team Name: Montreal Olympians IV
Game #: 141
What Happened: My team is down 1-0 in the [b:dc9c89a358]bottom of the 5th[/b:dc9c89a358], Madritsch (7 and slow hook, bullpen setting normal) on the mound. He gives up a 2-out single to Kennedy. HAL pulls him for the 9th hitter in the order, Terrerro. Osuna gets out of that inning with no problems.

Next inning, Osuna and Cormier combine to give up 5 runs. I lose 6-2.

Why a poor decision?: I would never take out my SP with the settings that I have after a single base runner gets on with 2 outs and the 9th place hitter coming up.

What Would have been better?: Leave Madritsch in longer.

ATGII, Armchair GMS 14 league, Brewery Slingers

Game #77:

Pinch hit for starter in top of 6th with team leading 3 - 2. Starter was C. Young who is an S9 and the #1 starter. Bullpen usage on normal. Not a major gaffe, but not good mangement either.

yeah, Hal will almost always remove a starter that becomes tired.

By definition, allowing 3 walks once a pitcher has reached his inning number is sufficient to elicit the tiredness.

this is atg2, but very stupid and very costly....

*** BOTTOM OF INNING 9 ***
SUBSTITUTE P - Clem Dreisewerd
0 C.Yastrzemski 3 Triple b-3
0 3 W.Mays 5 Single 3-H b-1
0 1 C.Cooper 6 Fly Out b-0
1 1 R.Yount 2 Triple 1-H b-3
1 3 G.Carter 5 Home Run 3-H b-H
1 L.Gardner 1 Pop Out b-0
2 C.Stahl 4 Single b-1
2 1 E.Collins 4 Single 1-2 b-1
SUBSTITUTE PH- Jay Alou
SUBSTITUTE P - Todd Worrell
SUBSTITUTE PH- Craig Reynolds
2 12 C.Reynolds 7 Ground Out

driesward is set to AVOID rhb, quick hook, max 1-2 innings. clearly worrell, and wyatt who pitched in the ensuing extra innings, were available. faciing mays is bad enough, so I could forgive him for leaving dreisward in to face cooper, but then yount's triple, and carter's homer in the bottom of the 9th?! this is just the most recent example.

and obtw...osinski also available, had pitched one inning and saved the previous game, his only appearance in the previous five games. he's set at don't use before the 9th, quick hook, avoid lhb, and closer vs. rhb. lost that frickin' game in 12 innings! (yount homered, but atleast it was off the rh wyatt)
