NLD XXII

Smokey, B.A. I can understand (on Branyan), but I've seen players with enough homers and ribbies to be Top 3 or 4 in the league, but they not be there due to limited number of AB's. There's zero reason a player should be kept off the "counting categories" list.

Same old song for us. Rash of injuries in the last 25 games or so has us playing .500 ball over that stretch. Baker, Choo & Aybar all 15-gamers in that time, and a few other assorted dings. If it's enough to take the WC we'll be happy though, try to clinch WC then rest the key injury-prone guys before the playoffs...

Yeah, it's tough getting injuries at the end. In our recent AD team we lost Sandoval in the last series for 15 games. He was our 5 hiter so it was brutal.

That's one reason I hate drafting injury teams. You just don't know when the injuries are going to come. You've all but clinched a WC spot 8 up with 9 to play. We clinched a WC spot tonight, but only have 3 game lead up over you and 4 up for the second best record.

With the new playoff rules, assuming Silver finishes ahead of C2, will Stoney play Silver or C2???

The only good things to come out of this team are Brian Buscher and his 1.11 salary and my 29-24 record in 1 run games.I didnt like this team from the very beginning since I didnt have a very good draft(quite the understatement) and Jets ratings told me something that I already knew-this team sucked, though I do have the 6th best record somehow and appear headed to the Central division
On a positive note Buscher has had a helluva season since I picked him up to platoon with Bloomquist at 3B.His line:

94G-308 AB-341-410-432.Not too shabby for a 1.11 guy with those many at bats

[b:05d02d9069]NOW bring on NLD XXIII[/b:05d02d9069].I need some redemption in a big way and maybe then I might have something to talk about because this group has kicked my *** for way too long now.

Well I lost two more 1-run games to the above Hawk, who mentioned his nice record in 1-run games, so I 'm feeling just peachy this morning. :x

OT, even though Georgia is the "Peach State", SC produces more peaches than Georgia, and by quite a margin.

SC [i:54cad251c6]should have been [/i:54cad251c6]the "Peach State" and Geogia the "Peanut State". You ain't gone find a state that has more peanuts than GA. (btw, that previous sentence[i:54cad251c6] is [/i:54cad251c6]grammatically correct down here)

Back to 1-run games, I'm now 19-32. :x

BTW, You may see me resting some starters down the stretch. These are players "I'm thinking of" possibly drafting in the next NLD and I want them mentally ready and healthy for the upcoming season.

[quote:badfd0f8d8]
The Top Seed (the team with the best regular season record in the league) plays the Wild Card team in the Semi-Finals, UNLESS the Wild Card is in the same division, in which case the Top Seed plays the Division Winner with the worst record. The other two teams play each other in the other Semi-Finals series. The team with the better record has home-field advantage in each series. [/quote:badfd0f8d8]

So, the answer is:
Silver @ Stoney and
C2 @ Burgundy

Stoney is no longer an NLD "virgin" as he has made the playoffs (in a BIG WAY ) for the first time. He's stumbled down the stretch so he won't win 100 games, but I assume that's because he has been resting guys right and left.

As for us, we're not all that excited about our chances given that we have our worst record against C2 at 4-8. We're 6-6 with Stoney (both teams 4-2 at home) and 15-9 with Silver.

Stoney is 6-3 with Silver so it doesn't look good for the Western Division. That being said, we all know that in the playoffs, all bets are off and strange things happen.

I assume we're in for 100 mil next time or are we going to vote on it?

My team continues to just fall flat on its face, now falling to last place. The one consolation I had beeing 20+ games out was that I at least was in 2nd place. I have 13 teams going on at the moment, playing consistently "around" .530 ball, except for this one that continues this freefall every night.

The most frustrating thing is this isn't a one time deal. It happens in NLD a lot. Now I know the competition is stiff, but I play stiff competition all the time in my theme leagues. (no cracks from the audiance on that stiff usage please  )

All this virgin and stiff competition talk is a little disturbing. :D

It is nice to finally show that I belong in the esteemed NLD group. I was starting to doubt that myself.

Jeep knows I'm the master of jinxing my own team so I've kept pretty quite. Not that I've said that I know I'll get swept in the 1st round.

Jeep,

Me thinks thou dost protest too much. Heck, you won it 2 NLDs ago!

I think you were spoiled by your 4 out of 5 playoff run in NLD 13-17!

Heck even Silver who's made the playoffs in 17 of 22 seasons had a three season slump.

We've made the playoffs half the time, but we had a five season slump. It just happens with the tough competition that we're facing I think. The teams are just so even most of the time. This season is definitely an anomaly.
