Postby ths92110 » Wed Jul 01, 2009 4:38 pm

The Fan base is ecstatic: This is the moment we've been waiting for!!!! There's over 10,000 of them tailgating in the parking lot with a lot of beer. They've waited all year for this! They've kept their fingers crossed!! They've paid Bernie alot of money!!!!!!! And here's what their getting:

Ivan ("the Terrible") Calderon (87) will hit .430 with 65 RBIs.

Mike ("The Terminator") Smithson (84) and Shane ("Slowhand") Rawley (85) will combine for 20 victories.

Art ("The Fisted Glove") Howe (80) will go errorless at 3b and destroy opposing LH's.

Jeffrey ("HacMan") Leonard (84) will hit 15 HR and score 50 times.

The team's going on a 43-8 tear to clinch a playoff berth on the last day of the season, in one the most dramatic, moving, and overly commerialized moments in sports history . . . . .

GOOOOO PLUTOSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

Stay tuned for the team theme song we're feverishly working on . . . .

Parking Lot Peroration

Postby ths92110 » Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:04 pm

Overheard at the kegger near Lot D, Aisle 10, of the Olympic Stadium parking lot:

. . . . we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight on the basepaths. We shall fight on the infield and the batters box. We shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in our pitching staff and lineup, we shall defend our honor, whatever the cost shall be, we shall fight in the bullpen, we shall fight on the warning track, we shall fight in the dug out and on the pitcher's mound, we shall fight in foul territory; we shall never surrender!!!!

You have to play the song to get the full effect: http://www.ilovewavs.com/Holidays/July4/Battle%20Hymn%20of%20the%20Republic%20-%20Sousa.wav

And of course we're wrapping it up in the flag . . .

Now if the team could only get OUT of 4th . . . 8-)

[quote:1df824f27a="chess2899"]Just noticed in the 70s/80s Championship that Echo and her Divas are making a run toward the playoffs. LasVegas picked her as the "Dark Horse" and it looks like Jen is making a run toward the playoffs.

Great recovery Jen! I was the original Dark Horse before choking in the Live drafts, but it looks like Jen has taken the baton in the final stretch.

Good Luck to all in the final weeks. I'll be back next year![/quote:1df824f27a]

I'm now 3-9 since this post

No, I truly feel it; maybe it is the Yoda inside of me! Jen will capture the division and make the playoffs. The Force is strong within me! :D

But it doen't take a rocket scientist or Jedi to know that PillPop will finish last.

The only question now is whether I can win more than 62 games so it won't be my all-time worst team! :)

I was so excited that Jen had taken over 1st place yesterday. I was poised to announce it on the boards but then realized that if she lost the next day, I would be reclassified as a "jinx."

Well, echo got swept last night  and it wasn't my fault. I still think the "Dark Horse Diva" can win the whole thing. It should be a fun thing to watch with so many mangers still playing for that playoff spot.

Hey ths92110! PillPop has just entered a new 80s league, Central Division. If you sign up real quick Tom, you'll be able to finish 3rd in the division ahead of him. That should give you some motivation!
