Draft Four 1/2 Team Theme League With a Twist

Postby ado_jake » Fri Mar 10, 2006 7:00 pm

You will choose a HALF team. Choose the pitching half, choose the hitting half - your choice. You will have to wind up with 2 hitting and 2 pitching halves, pick them in ANY order. On the night that the 4 draft rounds are completed, we will hold another pick 3 lottery using the same states originally chosen for the draft of a stadium. Here is the twist - you select a stadium to be used by another team within your division. For example, you build your team for power and someone sticks you in San Diego. Ballparks can only be used ONCE, so unique stadiums apply.

The usual applies, pick lotto state for an evening pick 3 - high to low (999 to 000). In case of tie, the Pick 4 used as the tie-breaker. Serpentine draft, 4 round.

During the season, no trading to other teams, move in and out of your own 4 halves at your leisure.

$100 mil, with a DH.

We will take the first nights lotto numbers after the league fills. Division alignment will also be based on that night's lottery.

Been through 3 80's leagues. Haven't played any other leagues yet, but want to do 69.

Are you saying that you will get to pick a pitching staff from only two teams and an offensive lineup from two other teams?

Yes that is correct. 2 pitching staffs and 2 groups of hitters for every team in the league. That way every player in the league will be the property of some team. 12 TSN SOM teams in a league and 24 real life 1969 teams to choose from.

What I don't understand is the team name concept. We could have players from up to 4 different teams. How do we choose a team name combining all of that? Couldn't another team have the same name theoretically?

Good point LM. I'm an idiot. I've edited the name portion. Thanks.

Been looking for one of these. I like the half tema concept. I am in a 2003 league with 3 1/2 hitting teams and 2 1/2 pitching teams.

I've had a few people in my other leagues ask about allowing trades. Since we only have 3 at this point, what's your thoughts on opening it up to trading? My initial thoughts as shown in the league rules were no trading, however, I'm flexible on this point. I would like your input.

Rather not trade because I think it defeats the purpose, but, if the majority wants to do that.... I have no problem.

My sentiments exactly. However, let's wait to see what LM has to say.
