NLD XXIII

I didn't make any moves.

Two 1-run losses last night. I'm going thru another streak where all my teams seem to be losing all the 1-runners. I went thru one earlier this season. Not sure why this is happening.

[quote:4c15b4c51f="Jeepdriver"]I have a very important announcment to make. :D

Stoney and I are each flying to NYC next Monday for two days of baseball and fun. We're seeing a day game at CitiField Monday - Stones' Phils are playing the Mets. And on Tuesday we'll be at Yankee Stadium for the Rangers/Yanks game. 8-) :D[/quote:4c15b4c51f]

OUTSTANDING, have fun you guys, Citifield is amazing, TV doesn't do it justice, especially the rf fences. I just wish the product on the field were better. Right now the Mets are sending out a triple A team with all the injuries.

Still should be 2 good games enjoy guys, I'm jealous. We should get an NLD trip together to the big apple and have all of us meet some weekend next year. Be nice to put faces with names, hell if we were all in the same hotel, we could even break out the cards and play our latest league face to face, that would be a blast. :D

[quote:8233da0b09="joethejet"]I see some moves have been made. Silver, Hawk, Jeep, what so you about your moves????

Jet[/quote:8233da0b09]

Mine was simple. My offense is underperforming especially Hanley andTeix. With Burriss hitting .163 I needed a little more offense at his position so dropped Olson who was too pricey for a LH SP and picked up Grudz to play 2B until he gets injured, and then hopefully Burriss will get a few better rolls.Earlier I dropped Hairston when he went down for 15 so I needed a platoon vs lefties to go with Sweeney but also someone who could play both ways when Sweeney is out with injuries hence Abreu who I figured would hit better than .173.Thankfully my pitching has been much better than expected and I am finally inching back to the 500 level after that horrendous 10 game losing streak.20-25 with a plus run differential.6-12 in 1 run games will do that to you

While I do enjoy a rival having a tough year it would be a better game if Reyes, Delgado, Beltran and Wright were playing.

It would be fun to plan a weekend for everyone to meet. I used to handle clients on the west coast and met up with Silverberg for a Giants game a couple of years ago.

I'm stoked to see both new stadiums.

Sorry, meant Smokey.

As for meeting in NYC, that might be a bit expensive for me. Something closer to the West Coast (Vegas?) would be better for me! If we're looking for baseball parks, we could do SF and Oak or LAD/LAA/SD too.

NP, why did they make the new park such a pitcher's park?

Shea was always a pitchers park too and like the Dodgers the Mets have primarily tried to build arround strong pitching. I just don't think they knew exactly how extreme it would be until they started playing there. The ball is getting out of the park a bit more now that the summer heat has actually arrived. The new field is actually shorter down the lines, it's just the new fences aren't of uniform hieght or depth so there are a lot of places were fly balls becomes outs.
However, I will bet you that Citifield will lead the majors in triples hit. The gaps especially RCF are huge and if a ball rolls to the wall it's almost always a 3 bagger.

I see, well, at least Shea was "fair" I'm not sure Citi is.

As for Triples, I'm sure AT&T will give Citi a run for the money!

[quote:80f7ce4bc7="Ninersphan"]As you all know I'm a Mets fan, as a fan I collect McFarlane Sports Picks figures of the Mets. I"m beginning to think McFarlane toys has put a curse on the Mets. There are currently 6 Mets on the 40 man roster with figures they are:

David Wright
Jose Reyes
Carlos Beltran
Carlos DelGado
Billy Wagner
&
Johann Santanna

With Wright now going on the DL I'm beginning to think someone is using these things like vodoo dolls and if I was Santanna, I'd be a little nervous.
[/quote:80f7ce4bc7]

And now Santanna is hurt, anyone seen Billy Buckner lately???

Dang, that's tough on the Mets. :(

As for the Burgundy, I KNOW our pitching/D isn't the worst in the league, even in our parks.

The only guy with meaningful IP that's been decent is Harden. Here are our SP ERAs:
Lowe 5.02
Volques 6.57
Rowland 7.43
Sampson 7.58

I mean, I know this is 100 mil league, but these guys aren't *this* bad. :(

Even our two best RPs:
Johnson 4.40
Carrasco 4.33
Have been pretty pathetic.

Heck, Affeldt is pitching pretty good with a 4.91 ERA, maybe I should move *him* in the setup role!
