I'm in a DH league. Didn't do well in draft and ended up 3rd in waivers.

Haren, couple of relievers, Roberts/Granderson were the key players I did get. I was worried since I wasn't available for waivers and figured there would be a few players to pick up post waivers but I still did ok.

Got a SS (Bartlett) with my 1st pick and then I listed 5 of the 6 SP that were left and ended up with Marcum. When I got home was able to move a couple of players and get Aramis Ramirez and Wagner to close.

This was a $60M league so every team has some weakness but there are still good players out there. I read that the $80M left the cupboards pretty bare and if you didn't get what you needed then you were hosed.

Get the low price value players and SS early and you should be able to fill in with some of the higher priced players.

BTW Joe, nice to wake up to a sweep this morning.

:D

Stoney,

Thanks for the info.

No thanks for the sweep. Although, it's not a big deal right now. I know this team is better than it's playing. 3 runs with that lineup? And, we continue to just get our pitching pounded. Losing Nady for two games didn't help.

It'll turn around, but we're scuffling right now. <sigh>

[quote:8211cae011="joethejet"]Dang, that's tough on the Mets. :(

And the beat goes on, now Olie Perez is on the shelf for the rest of the season ( though that may be a belssing in disguise). I'm hearing rumors that the Bisons, the Mets Triple a affiliate here in Buffalo are thinking of sending Buster Bison, the mascot up to the bigs in case Mr. Met goes down, apprently he's been seen hobbling around Citifield of late. No worries here if Buster is sent away, Buffalo Chip (No joke) Buster's little nephew can still rally the fans here.

You've got to be f-ing kidding me. We've lost 11 of 12. This is just ridiculous. Five of them by one run. And 3 by 3 runs.

I guess this team is unlucky, cuz I know it's not this bad.

We lose game one tonight on a 2bx (1-2) and a 3bx (1-4)

Game 2, we hit into 3 DPs and have 2 guys gunned stealing. (including a lomax, and have the bases loaded and no outs in the 9th and hit into a DP with my cleanup hitter up.

Game 3, four rolls in Volquez's 6 column, including a 1-10 hit score a pair in the third. Meanwhile Sonnanstine pitches out of trouble.

Brutal. This team *will* make a run. Someone is going to pay!

I was looking at your R.D. Joe. You may have lost some close games, but that R.D. paints a little different story. Losing by 3 runs is just losing. I'm sure we all would be playing .700 ball if we won those.

If our teams are as evenly matched as you say they are (and I agree with that) then there's going to be a few who get lucky and a few who get unlucky.

Stoney, glad to see you making some SOM in-person friends besides me, was beginning to think you were a total wallflower! :P

Chuckster, no lemonade for you! I know it's hard to tell those guts apart, but that's Stoney on the left, your lose your 50-50 prop bet!

Joe, not to rain on your little rant, but to build on Jeepster's reply, when you look a RS/RA and 1-run records, you should realize that losing 11 of 12 is just dice karma catching up. Your RS/RA is that of a .500 team at the very best, and your 1-run W/L record is 11-12, perfectly normal. Your expected overall W-L is 30-39, so you're 3 games over your pythag expectations.

On the other hand, my RS/RA has me projected at 39-33, 3rd best in the league, yet we find ourselves in 6th and in a nasty dogfight for a potential playoff spot. Our 1-run record is 8-16, ridiculously bad for a team with our run differential. We can expect to improve a bit and winning a few rolls against your squad is just balancing the scales IMHO...

yeah, we've been unlucky lately. Silver, yeah, I know our one run record, my point is that it's very tough losing 11 of 12 especially when there are some many close games. Also, I know we're better than we've played our pitching is no where near this bad and I expect that our hitting will improve as the season goes on. About the only guy we have performing well at the plate is Chris Davis and maybe X. Hamilton is at .222 with a .416 slugging in Cell. As a team we're hitting .238 on the road. This is a team with 5 regulars with regular averages > .295. I don't expect them to hit their averages, but most of them aren't very close.

As for our pitching Harden has been very good. The rest have sucked in big ways.
BAA
Lowe .291 1.43 whip
Volquez .325 1.97 whip
Rowland .298 1.68
Sampson .311

Johnson, Carrasco and Rhodes all with BAA > .250

Any time you take a snapshot of your stats after a tough stretch, you're going to look bad. I'm just saying this team has a big upside and someone is going to pay. ;)
