Draft Question

Postby ado_jake » Sun Mar 12, 2006 11:39 am

mrmdoetkott - few questions about when we get to the 12 round draft:

1.) Can we draft the 12 players we want regardless of position?
2.) Or are we drafting 8 position players and a DH, and 4 pitchers?
3.) If we are drafting by position, are the draft rounds tied to the position, or can we draft whoever we want in any round?

Just looking for clarification before we start. Thanks.

My assumptions are you can draft whomever you'd like, whenever, as long it is a) and AL player and b) your turn. If it is some kind of lame position draft I'll excuse myself.

Calm down everyone. You can draft who you want as long as it is a player that qualifies as an American League player. I assume that everyone will keep in mind the positions they need to fill and the 80 million dollar salary cap. I'd hate to see someone go into the auto draft portion of the draft with 9 million left to draft 12 players.

Anyway, it should be interesting. There is much more strategy involved when you can draft who you want. Position by position removes that strategy.

I debated picking Carlton, but shortstop is going to be a very tight position the way it is so Ozzie is the choice. If three National League starting pitchers hadn't already been picked, I would have went with Carlton.

Ozzie was going to be my choice. Give me a few minutes to think over the 2 I have on my list.

Mike,

If we can the the stadium guys to get going we'd can finish this part today and use tomorrows pick 3's (although if we used last nights we could get drafting today vs waiting until Tuesday.

I am a bit ignorant on pick 3's. Are they only done on weekdays? If not, we can use the ones from tonight and start picking on Monday morning.
