24 team keeper

[quote:e4d1300a11="cshannajr"]Niners...are you sure you don't want to join us. I know I really value your input and think you would make an excellent league President :D !

You do a bang up job in our other leagues and...what's a few more spreadsheets?????

If you don't want to be Prez, no problem. We'd sure enjoy having you participate as an owner though.[/quote:e4d1300a11]

I'll think on it. Timing is the big thing. As I said I have 6 other leagues right now I'm in, running 2 of them.

IF ( and I know it's a big concession for everyone else to humour just 1 guy)

we can hold off starting this league every season until the other keepers are done drafting I'll jump in, but other wise I'm just afraid I don't have the time.

That draft delay would be good thing for me, too. I wonder if we could put a limit on that delay, Ninerspan, like say give them 10 days to draft and then start, just in case one draft runs unreasonably long. Would that work?
And would it work for the rest of us?

The draft delay is an interesting idea. Let's take it a step further...

We still need 10 more managers and many of the potential ones may also have timing concerns like Ninersphan.

So how about if this league always runs at different times from the rest of them? Instead of starting in March and August (or whatever is typical), how about starting in July and January?

That way, we would always avoid conflicts with other drafts.

And then we could also run 2 seasons with the current card set, before starting with the new cards next summer.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I like football a lot, but I kind of feel like there is a void in my life without MLB and strat over the winter.

That is a good idea - and I also would favor holding off until Niners is available. I've been in so many leagues with him that sometimes he finishes my sentences for me..

And I second the notion that allowing managers to pick and discard from the undrafted pool would be a nightmare. There are just so many things that could screw up if that were allowed to happen -

I am not crazy about the June and December idea. When wo the first draft of the year when the season is part over, we already have an idea of what the next year will look like. and when the second season is after the year is over, damn, those supplemental picks will be powerful. I don't mind giving us a slightly different schedule, but how About April/ July instead of march June, not June/December.

Sorry folks, but I took myself off the list. While I'd love to do a 24 team keeper league, I've decided that the time it would take to complete the draft might be a bit much for me in regards to my schedule and lack of time. I know most of the signups and so far it looks like its going to be a great league. Good luck guys.

I just put my name on the list and look forward to the idea . The League President is taking on a formidable record-keeping challenge, but the evolving rules seem sound.

Just to clarify, and maybe give a "make everyone happy" solution.

For this year having a second season in the winter would be great. For next year, I would really like to have our first league and regular draft before the actual baseball season starts, or at least towards the beginning of the season, so we are drafting without knowing how the players will play during 2010.
One solution that might meet everyone's needs is after this initial year, have 3 seasons per year, the first at the beginning of the year, at the earliest time that works for Ninerspan. The second in the summer, and the 3rd in the winter. We could have two supplemental drafts, the second would be pretty juicy, but that might be good, it will be a way for the weaker teams to pull into contention,

It's going to be difficult to pull 24 managers together for two seasons and two drafts, much less three. I'm open to anything, but I will advocate for simple and concrete. By concrete, I'm thinking specific dates for drafts and team loading. Perhaps penalties for not loading a team might be loss of draft position?
