The Jaba Question?

The Jaba Question?

Postby The Mahoots » Wed Sep 16, 2009 10:17 pm

In Strat as in the real world, is Jaba more valuable as a SP or a set up man and why ?
And is there a possible loophole in HAL'S system. Could Jaba start every fifth day and then go to the bullpen the other four , by just changing the settings ? Would HAL compute the fatigue from his start or would it read his card as a relief pitcher separately ?

thanks

When salaries for players are calculated the most AB or IP a player might get are factored in. Joba would get many more IP as a SP so his salary was figured as if he would get 32 starts in a season. Therefore if you pitch him for less IP as a set up man you are not getting the most bang for your buck with him at least. Generally speaking no S/R is being used wisely when used as a full time RP.

Joba Rules

Not so sure...
middle relief in this years cards is pretty crucial, especially if you are a 3.
Kuo and Chamberlain get almost as many innings as a starter and appear in more games. The question I am asking is that in Strat..can Joba start game 1, pitch in relief games 2, 3, 4 without losing effectiveness and then start in game 6?

No. Hal won't call him for games 2-3, perhaps 4 but in a tired mode, but if then he won't be as fresh for game 6.

BTW, Kudo has a much better card than Chamberlain. If Kudo were a starter, I guess he would be in the 8M zone...

Alas..Kuo was not available and is a much better card...I'm using a Petco strategy and I think Jaba should be almost as effective there. Do you believe his value is greater as a starter ?
