Injury laden league?

Injury laden league?

Postby Valen » Mon Mar 13, 2006 11:28 am

Has anyone done an injury laden league where every team was required to have a certain number of injuries on team.

For example your team might have 1 with no injury on card, 9 with 1 injury and 2 with 3 injury. That would add up to 0 + 9 + 2*3 = 15.

If you did something like this what would be a reasonable minimum level to require teams to be at? Keeping in mind that truly injury prone players are uncommon in this set.

Comments/disscussion invited.

For reference to jump start conversation there are 4 players with 6 inj, 3 with 5, 6 with 4, 12 with 3, 118 with 2 (probably CA dominated) and 367 with 1.

For purposes of such a league would you count players with 680+ PA as 0 inj since they really are or count them as a 1 if the injury is on card for purposes of simplifying the team eligibility count verification process?

Valen..... we did one in ATG1....and one in ATG2....where every hitter was required to be a 15 game injury risk and all pitchers had to have no higher then an S7 endurance rating..... they are FUN leagues .... if you get enough interest you will enjoy it.

I figure it could be fun and get some more little used players in the mix. I was thinking of using total injury to push/force people to use the high injury players. My thinking is by having most of the high injury guys being used it would also put a premium on multiposition players as a good bench would become a necessity. So I am getting seldom used players from 2 angles.

I am thinking if people carried 17 batters with a trio of 2 injurycatchers that is 23. Make one of the players a 6 and you get 28. Of course there are only 4 of those so if you miss on those you have to add injury vulnerability to 2 or more positions. If people want to carry fewer batters than 17 then all they have to do is add more injury risk somewhere.

But since 28 really only requires you have 1 truly injury prone player I would bump minimum to 30 to force another. Not sure if I could get by with going a higher and still allow everyone to field a team.

For purposes of such a league would it be appropriate to ban all players with over 600 PA as well so all the 1 injury players are equal risk?

Would still like to hear some more comments on feasibility of a league as described. If it seems feasible I probably try to get such a theme league going. Just don't want to be proposing something impossible.

i think if you are going to exclude non injury players....then you might as well ban all 600 PA players too.... if you want an injury league .... make it all injury.... look at the teams in my link....they are STILL good teams... you jsut have to allow for players being hurt and get good back ups....
