How do you deal with people who purposely tank leagues?

We've got some jack*ass in one of our leagues who has traded himself down on a daily basis to where he now has only 2 or 3 guys over $1 mil.

Needlees to say he's 14-52.

He basically PM'ed me and told me to stop crying and shut up but I don't feel like shutting up today.

Do you die hards just suck it up and pray you end up in their division or is there someone(Bernie?) we can contact to put these jerks on notice?

Personally, I usually ignore them.

I do not think most people try and "tank" leagues, they just keep adding and dropping players because they are doing terrible, are typically new to the game, and do not understand that you cannot win in an 80 mill league with a 60 mill roster...

It is unfortunate, but i would just ignore him, and go on best you can...nothing you can really do about it anyway, except to maybe positively try and help him understand the futility of his moves....

Or you can do what i have done alot lately...play in more leagues advertised on the boards....almost always filled with vets who know how to play the game, you might not win as much, but when you do, it is sooo much sweeter!

We usually let mtarbell continue to play in our leagues although he "tanks" his teams.

He really tries hard to have his teams do so poorly, and he's doing a great job at it...

:D :D

actually if you contact TSN, they have at times taken the team over to at least make it competetive.

the problem when a team tanks, is that it skews the entire balance of the league, and then the WC basically comes from that division.

For the life of me, I can't understand the motives behind someone tanking a team, but I've seen it a couple of times. It sounds to me like you tried to contact him and he was still rude to you. If this is the case, and you weren't rude first, I'd contact TSN and maybe even post the username to warn others.

I'm in a league with someone who is doing the same, but I haven't contacted him to ask "what's up?". He's no rookie, he's had lots of teams in all formats and his overall winning % is below .400. But I'll cut him a little slack and check usernames before I sign up for an auto league.

I still can't fathom why someone would pay $25 to tank a team. It takes all kinds!

presently in a league where a guy has decimated his team and stands at 32-112 give or take a win/loss here or there. it does hurt the league and personally would like to see TSN/Stratomatic reimburse the other league members for 1/4 or 1/2 their money which would go some way to putting the ball back in their court as far as sorting this out. a cap on changes and other excellent suggestions has been put forward but as of this date ruining a team intentionally/or through ignorance is allowed to continue. obviously the WC in this present league will come from this particular division. i feel sorry for the guys who've built strong teams and will miss out because of this individuals irresponsibility. if reimbursement of the whole league is too much then why not compensate the team/s who were within a few games of the WC had it not been for such one-sided competition in the eventual WC' s division?

My guess is he probably has two accounts and he signs up two teams in a division. I have a hard time believing this kid is doing anything less than complete sabotage.

I don't know what you're complaining about-- Stahl's banging over .600 and Parent's tearing up the league.
