It's not worth it anymore

I preface this by saying I was giving TSN every benefit of the doubt with the numerous meltdowns over the last few weeks. In fact, I've tried to start new theme leagues and have joined others in order to do my part in helping move our community past all that.

Well, it's finally caught up to me. The frustrations that is. I'm going to play out my string of teams...which will take a few weeks I have 11 active at the moment, but am not going to join or start any more new leagues, even with free credits. (sans only the one more Tour event)

I'm not saying I'll disappear and I'm not saying I won't be back. Likely I will. I'm simply embittered with all the "stuff" that's happened, most importantly the way they have handled the stuff that's happened. For example, incorporating the new picher preferences without a good tutorial, saying they're going to update some things and maybe add sone new leagues, etc. I say fix the things in place now, get everyone back on board, then explore new options. From my observations, I don't think people are going to continue plucking down 25 bucks a team under the current situation. Leagues taking forever to fill is a good indicator.

I'm not even sure decreasing the price of the games is good and I'm not necessarily saying that. But, before you move on to "bigger and better" things, TSN should fix what we have currently in place.

I realize this is mostly a personal post regarding how frustrated I have become, but in all humbleness if TSN starts losing players who have been around since the beginning in '02, how are they going to attract new players and expand their base. I don't mean losing me personally, I'm talking about players who have already bolted and, players who might have wanted to play but don't because who wants to throw hard earned dollars at a failed system?

In closing, I'm pulling for you TSN. I sincerely am.

Well... hey. I'm sad to hear it. First of all, of course you have the right to be frustrated; frankly I don't blame anyone for being so. But I just wanted to respond to some of your specific complaints.

"Fix the things in place now" is pretty much our modus operandi. The extensive list of fixes and suggestions I posted yesterday is all essentially tweaks to the current game that the community has requested. If you're suggesting that we should halt all forward progress until make the site and forums more stable, well, that's just not even logistically sensible. The tech staff is working (desperately hard) on the server performance - I don't have anything to do with that. The only thing I can do is work on the game.

We're not chasing any pie in the sky... I'm not even sure if that's what you're saying. In fact there's a discussion in the ATG forum about how we DO need to come up with a "game-changer" - and we'll certainly keep an eye on the future of the business - but for right now, we're keeping the scope small and focused. I'm just making the effort to communicate with you, and fix and improve what we've got based on your requests. We're planning on some minor new offerings because we do have to make [i:5420e87192]some[/i:5420e87192] forward progress, and one of the biggest requests that's apparent from the community is, well, new offerings.

I haven't gotten the impression that a lack of a "good tutorial" on Bullpen v2 was a snafu case - I tried to author clear documentation, and there's been some questions, naturally, but from what I can tell, most people are pleased with it. If it were explained what kind of specific information should go in such a tutorial, I'd be happy to provide it.

So I don't see that our plan is drastically different from what you want. I apologize if I misunderstand. But I'm just trying to proceed in what I figure is the best direction for all of us involved.

I feel you jeep, I cut way back a while ago. I still come and go and play a few teams, mainly the old sets as they hold good nostalgia for me.

My problem, actually, has nothing to do with the game itself. Tome I went back as the community is what had failed my expectations. I guess coming from the 02 set with JaserD, Penngray, AT, Mav, etc etc. The fun part was the plethora of theme leagues, some were just straight up crazy. People did theme leagues for fun.

Now any league needs 20 pages of rules to make sure every has the same exact chance of succeeding. I've had at least 4 leagues I have up on because some people cry because someone might have the yankees (or Boston), boo hoo. Some of the crazy ones, like the fox and the hond, would never go with the guys here now. To me the theme leagues is what made the game fun, and with the death if creative theme league pretty much killed my enthusiasm for this game.

I'm certainly not immune to frustration. However, the week they had to postpone the games made me realize how much I would miss TSN/SOM should I walk away. Or how much I will miss it if they throw in the towel and stop offering the service.

However, I am glad, Jeep, that you are at least speaking out. For everyone who does there are many more who will just walk away. And I don't want to see that. So, it's good you're giving them the feedback.

For now, I'm staying put. I'm hoping things turn around not only in performance of the site but in participation as well. If it does, I hope to see you (and geekor and others) back.

In closing, here's a list of items that frustrate me on a scale of 0-10, 10 being the most frustrating:

Forums down <24 hours....................2
Forums down >24 hours....................4
Games run hours late........................6
Games not run for a week.................9.9
One of my teams gets swept..............10!

I am with Coyote. I have not been around since 2002. However if I had known about these leagues I probably would have been.

I just don't want TSN to get frustrated with us, and lack of profits and throw in the towel. Everyone likes to reminisce about the ,"Good old days" with this GM or that GM. Well I have news for you, five years from now, THESE will be the good old days. So stick around and don't make a mountain out of a mole hill. Give Bernie and TSN a break, they always come through with the free credits when something really goes wrong.

I'm certainly not giving up or even pulling back on my participation in the game...I just enjoy it way too much.

I empathize with what Jeep's saying though - the free credits and half price offers are like pain killers....they may ease the pain, but they don't mend the broken bones.

After a while, you start to realize the same or similar problem(s) keep recurring, and all you're really doing is continuing to participate in something that really doesn't seem to get fixed. Enhancements and modifications are great, but right now it's like we're adding a 3rd level to a house with a cracked foundation.

I understand where you're coming from, too, Milter. It IS a GREAT game and I certainly would hate to see it go away. But remember we are the customer, and TSN can make complaints and frustration go away by fixing ("curing") the product and not just treating the symptoms with pain killers.

Sorry for all the metaphors, it's been a long Friday!

I have had the same computer for almost 4 years. Never has a problem happened twice with this thing. Thank GOD I can't remember what happened yesterday. Now if only everything else went as well as, as chit what happened with this game that has me soooooooo pissed off. Oh yea now I remember, I think I lost 2 out of 3? When it is up I check it, when it is down I check it. When it starts up again I check it and I go 1 for 3. Try just enjoying the game and forget about the small stuff like the game being down 2 weeks out of 52. Live for the HEALTH and enjoy the roll when it is up. When they truly screw the pooch they give you a brand new season if your 100-62 or 62-100. I can't figure out the new pitching old pitching injuries cards why the game is down why a .320 hitter hits .220 and a .220 hitter hits .320. Why Halladay has a 2.98 ERA and is 5-10 and Chithead is 5.49 and 10-5. Play ball and when you don't, call it a rain out they have them to you know. Mike

I'll chime in...

I'm very down on this game at the moment, I've tried to find again the good stuff but at the moment I'm at best lukewarm.

My problem is closer to what geekor pointed than to site problems, the site problems have been frustrating but some of the managers have been much too sensitive for my taste for quite some time now, I've always been goofy and just joshing around quick to dish it out and good to take it but after a little childish and stupid little stunt pulled by a "beloved" vet in a live draft league because his/her little wittle feelings were hurt I've never really felt comfortable just goofing around like before.

So, my point, I think the times are rough and managers are coming here overly sensitive and much too edgy for my taste so, I have been cutting waaaay back and my teams, other than live drafts and keeper teams are basically quickdraft cards I barely even look at. So, yep... you could say intrest is on the low :(

some people come, some people go, some people will always be there

This is true for TSN/SOM, your work place or just about anything in life in general.

Someone above complained that it is not fun anymore because of a lack of good theme leagues. I would counter that by saying why don't you post one of your favorite theme leagues from the past and I'm sure we all would find it very enjoyable as well. If it was fun before I'm sure it would be fun again.
