New league forming-Usage limit, unique stadiums and more

Interested in testing your skills in a league where player usage will better reflect their actual usage in the 80s? If so, sign up and get ready to test your ability to manage a 25 man roster. In addition, there will be unique stadiums tied to your division. We will rely on the honor system to ensure the bylaws of this league are followed:

[b:dd074003b3]Player usage:[/b:dd074003b3]

Roster size: Rosters must be maintained at 25 players. Teams cannot carry 26, 27 or 28 players on an active roster until completion game 138. (Further explained below) Also, rosters cannot be less then 25 players. You must have 25 players on your roster at all times. There will be a disabled list which will be explained shortly.

[u:dd074003b3]Hitters[/u:dd074003b3]: Usage will be limited to the players 5 year average of plate appearances (hits plus walks) plus an additional 10%.

[u:dd074003b3]Pitchers[/u:dd074003b3]: Usage will be limited to the players 5 year average of innings pitched plus an additional 10%.

[i:dd074003b3]Once a player exceeds the 110% of their plate appearances or innings pitched, they must be dropped and a replacement player selected. If players are dropped or traded, their usage does not reset. Once a player has used up their allotted at bats/innings pitched, they cannot be used by anyone in the league.[/i:dd074003b3]

[b:dd074003b3]Disabled list:[/b:dd074003b3] To assist each manager in ensuring player usage remains within usage requirements, each manager can place up to 2 players on their disabled list at any one time. This will be accomplished by announcing your intention to place a player on the disabled list via sending an e-mail to all members of the league. Please send an e-mail to the league members prior to making your roster move. When a player is placed on the DL, he remains the property of the original owner. Remember that you will still be responsible for the financial impact associated with this transaction. This option will be available to the owners until game 139. Players placed on the DL must remain there for at least 4 series (12 games). After 12 games, the manager must reclaim their players prior to the next night’s games. If a player is not returned to the active roster, he can be picked up by any owner. Failure to restore the player to the roster after exposes him to all other league owners. Example: Player A is placed on the DL after game 3. He sits out the next 4 series-it is now the night/morning of games 16,17 and 18. If Player A is not placed back on the roster of the original owner, any team can pick up the player at the conclusion of game 18.

[b:dd074003b3]Roster expansion:[/b:dd074003b3] To replicate roster expansions on September 1, rosters may be increased to the maximum allowed by the game engine. This will occur after the completion of 138 games. For teams making the playoffs, they must revert to a 25 man roster prior to the playoffs. While I know players cannot be picked up after game 142, I believe players can be dropped at any time. If this is incorrect, this feature of the league will be reconsidered.

[b:dd074003b3]Stadiums:[/b:dd074003b3] When you sign up, please select a pick three lottery-we will use the evening drawing for states that have both a mid-day and evening/night drawing. Once 12 managers are in place, we will use the next nights drawing and rank managers high three digit number to low. 999 to 000 (In case of a tie, we will use the previous day’s pick three lottery from the individuals who tied. The higher number from the previous day will break the tie by adding .10 to the initial lottery number.)

The East division will consist of slots 1,4,7 and 10
The Central division will consist of slots 2 5 8 and 11
The West division will consist of slots 3 6 9 and 12

Stadium draft:

Owners in the east will be able to select stadiums associated with MLB eastern division (both leagues) teams.

Owners in the central will be able to select stadiums associated with MLB central division (both leagues) teams.

Owners in the west will be able to select stadiums associated with MLB west division (both leagues) teams.

East: New York M, Montreal, Philadelphia, Atlanta, New York Y, Boston, Toronto, Baltimore

Central: Chicago C, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Houston, Chicago W, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota, Kansas City

West: LA D, San Francisco, San Diego, Oakland, Seattle, Texas, California

Order of draft for stadiums: East: 10, 7, 4, 1.
Central: 11, 8, 5,2
West: 12, 9, 6, 3

Therefore, before we draft players (auto draft), we will know our stadium and the other stadiums in the division/league.

If owners wish, they may trade stadium draft slots prior to the stadium draft.

Sorry about the detailed message-I'm open to any other ideas or changes to these suggestions.

Great theme, JJB. YountFan has an excel spreadsheet that will allow players to monitor useage closely -- very helpful.

I'm thinkin' you cannot drop a player after game 142 -- but I could be wrong. YF, any thoughts?

I'm excited about this -- I was the champ in the first league we did like this last year.

Straight autodraft, or live draft :D :?:

Draft talk...

Postby JOSEPHBONK » Mon Mar 13, 2006 9:20 pm

Sean,

Welcome aboard-good to have the champ return to defend his crown. I'm looking forward to this test-it should be fun.

My thought is to have a straight autodraft after we draft our stadiums. Do you have strong feelings on this?

JJB,

I have strong feelings toward live drafts -- they are a TON of fun, and add a whole new dimension to this already awesome game. However, the time commitment is sometimes tough for some folks -- I know Rooks and YF have been in leagues with live drafts before.

I am fine with it being autodraft too; if you want to give some thought to doing a live draft, some of the vets like YF and I can help to set it up and administer it.

Either way, this will be some fun stuff. It's your league, I'll leave it up to you. If I can help, I'll be happy to. Thanks,

Sean
