12 x 12 Regional Theme League

12 x 12 Regional Theme League

Postby novie » Wed Sep 30, 2009 11:13 am

I'll edit this post to contain the basic info for the league including rotation of team owner, rule makers, stadiums.

[b:a79eddd6d4]The Rules: [/b:a79eddd6d4]

1. 12 season commitment. You get to make the rules and salary cap once during the commitment as well as play with each different set. Each new season will begin every approximately 3 weeks.

2. Each season one owner will decide:
(a) the cap (90/100/125/135), can't have same cap in more than 2 consecutive seasons,
(b) dh or no dh
(c) one individual rule requirements. (examples are use only players carded to your franchise, minimum amount of time for your franchises, ballpark requirement, defensive requirements)

3. Unless stipulated in the rule for a season, you have exclusive rights to the players designated to your franchise, ALL leagues will be waivers and 5/10/20 drop penalty and divisions will be done through the randomizer.

4. We will rotate straight thru the listed franchises. Top to bottom, then back to top... 1 goes to 2 etc.... 12 goes to 1.

5. Post-War and Pre-War teams are SEPERATE franchises. If a player did not play for them during BOTH periods, they are never eligible for the other franchise. (edit)

6. Players are assigned to the franchise that SOM has them listed under. Example... Willie Mays is assigned to NY Post-War even though his card is SF62.

100m cap, DH, frenzy
can only use players carded to your grouping (exception listed below)
can only use parks carded to [b:c839d5e63f]your grouping[/b:c839d5e63f]

Each manager designates two franchise players who will be safe from the depredations of opposing managers.
After each manager designates their franchise players, your other managers get to designate two of your carded players as off-limits to you for this season. One off-limits player can be of any $$ amount, the other must have a salary no greater than 2m. Offlimits and franchise players can be hitters or pitchers.

Those players and [b:c839d5e63f]those players ONLY[/b:c839d5e63f] go onto the Free Agent list and are eligible to be picked up by other managers, provided they have [b:c839d5e63f]500 ABs, 150 IPs, or 60 IPs for relievers or were on that team's roster for 2 years[/b:c839d5e63f] for a franchise grouping. The manager who declared a particular player off-limits has the choice to add player to his draft card if he is eligible. If that owner chooses not to draft that player or cannot because he doesnt meet eligibility requirements for his team, he becomes a free agent after the Autodraft. THERE WILL BE [b:c839d5e63f]NO OTHER[/b:c839d5e63f] ELIGIBLE FREE AGENTS THAN THESE PLAYERS, SO THE REST OF YOUR CARDED PLAYERS ARE SAFE FOR YOU TO USE THROUGHOUT SEASON.
Yes, a Postwar carded player could play for a PreWar team in this exception only(the offlimits exception), and vice versa.

Does that mean only one player is off-limits?

Also, what are the salary cap, division, and DH rules? This will influence that decision, I suppose.

To better explain the offlimits strategy, you may be just trying to screw up another manager's team with your offlimits pick, or you may have designs on that guy yourself.

Wow... what a way to start! So much for keeping it simple.
[quote:fd199dda82]
Yes, a Postwar carded player could play for a PreWar team in this exception only(the offlimits exception), and vice versa. [/quote:fd199dda82]

Here's the problem.... In setting this up, my feeling was that any player movement had to play for that franchise as represented.

[b:fd199dda82]Post-War and Pre-War teams are SEPERATE franchises.[/b:fd199dda82] If a player did not play for them during BOTH periods, they are never eligible for the other franchise.

EXAMPLES:
Babe Ruth (1914-1935) is assigned to NY Pre-War and can NEVER be on the Post-War NY team, but could be on Boston.

Roberto Clemente (1955-1972) can NEVER be on anyone other than Rust Belt Post-War.

Joe Dimaggio (1936-1951) is assigned to Pre-War NY, but could play for either.

To help clarify this, the line of demarcation will be Pre and Post 1945[/quote]

I'll be heading to work and can't get online from there anymore. I'll check in first thing in the morning.

Also, andy.... my gut feels like this is many rules rolled into one. Making guys a free agent is one rule, time requirements for free agents could be seen as another rule, franchising and screwing over is a rule. Who gets to add a screwed player first is yet another rule. Please clean this up if you don't mind.

Think that franchising, then screwing and making those 24 players free agents is ok... the rest is a bit deep for a 1 rule theme.
