Nomination for a not so bad 2009 card

[quote:89ec63ed03="coyote303"]I'm curious how much positive clutch Seth Smith will have. He has been incredible this year for the Rockies in key situations late.[/quote:89ec63ed03]

I think the "clutch" rating is not actually determined by what is classically classified as being a "clutch hitter". It has to do with how many RBIs the player had based on how many hits, HRs, etc. he had. That's why guys like Morneau (23 HRs, 129 RBIs, +4 clutch), Ibanez (23 HRs, 110 RBIs, +6 clutch), and Garko (14 HRs, 90 RBIs, +5 clutch) have their positive clutch ratings.

I have used Bartlett on 7 out of 9 teams. He is one of the best bargains in the set THIS year.

A couple of players with limited at bats who won't come cheap.Garrett Jones 303 ab's .297/.374/.581 w/ 21 hr's 10 sb's.Jonny Gomes 276 ab's .268/.340/.543 w/ 20 hr's and 51 rbi's.Potential platoon w/ these 2 as Garrett kills righties and Gomes lefties.Though I can't imagine Gomes defense will make him anyting but a DH.

Jacoby Ellsbury. Possibly a 1e0 with a .300 ba and 70 stolen bases.

How would he be a 1e0? He made two errors in 153 games, and ranked 14th among 20 qualified CFs in "range factor". I'd say a 2(0)e2.

Still, the .301 average and SBs should give him a much better card than last year's. Perhaps in the 5M range.

Allright, he made two errors. He catches everything hit his way. Compare his stats to the other Center Fielders. 1e2.

Cards I'm interested in....

Postby drew6013 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 6:54 pm

These three guys would have some interesting cards (if they get one)

Sam Fuld 299/409/412 line playing 3 OF spots
Andres Torres 270/343/533 line playing 3 OF spots
David Ross 273/380/508 as the back up catcher in ATL

They all have just over 100 PA's so they're borderline.

Righty killer in 09? Julio Borbon is my guess to be 9R

Fuld with only 97 AB's is likely to not get a card.
Torres has a better chance with 152 AB's...why did he miss all of Aug?
Dave Ross with 128 AB's is quite likely...

I'd say No/Yes/Yes

Colby Rasmus will be an interesting platoon option in the OF as well.

He'll be one of the bubble boys...joined the team in August, 115 AB's total (and they got better in those 6 AB's since your post):

.313/.385/.635 with 10 HR's
