"Don't PR For" checkbox now available

Postby bernieh » Thu Oct 01, 2009 1:16 pm

Here's a quickie for you... a "Don't PR For" checkbox has been added to the group of strategy checkboxes found at the bottom of each position player's popup window. Quite simply (and as explained on the Individual player settings help page), this setting keeps the player from (literally) ever being removed for a pinch-runner when he's on base.

This setting is in effect immediately, beginning with tonight's games. Yes, it's been tested.

I hope you enjoy this long-requested feature, and I intend to keep the new goodies coming fast and furious...

Bernie..how about a dont advance/dont take extra bases etc.-

if i set my base running on aggresive it is for all base runners..so if i have fast team with a slow plodder i need to use the blanket normal/conservative approach so my 1-9 baserunner doesnt take extra bases

Wonderful addition. Naturally though, the mystery card gets left out of the loop again. =(

Voovits, it's neither a conscious decision, nor a result of neglect, that we're unable to upgrade the older games as they stand. It's just logistically impossible to do so in their current state. But it is a top priority of mine to port those games to the central site not just for you, but for us as well. I'm afraid I still can't offer an ETA on this yet, but I'm going to do everything in my power to make it happen.

Toronto,

My understanding of the game is that you shouldn't matter about this.

If you go aggressive, and if your runner, after making all the adjustments, has a 1-14 chances to be safe, the computer will send the runner, regardless of who he is.

It doesn't matter whether the 1-14 chances result from a top runner (1-17) running against a strong arm (-2) as he was being held (-1) (thus 17-2-1=14), or result from a weak runner (1-8), not being held (+1), running against a weak arm (+3), after two outs (+2) (thus 8+1+3+2=14).

Of course I understand all that. I know you are working hard, and it certainly is appreciated. I also understand that you have to focus the brunt of your work and priorities toward what is more popular, without totally ignoring everything else. It's a delicate balance to try to achieve and I think you are doing a good job at maintaining that balance.

You repeatedly state that the mystery card games are not being ignored and us mystery card fans are not forgetting that you said that. We're just trying to wait patiently while the work gets done. It's not like the game is not fun in its current state anyway. I personally can't wait for the season reveal of the free agents upon conclusion of the season. It's funny how my most anticipated feature won't even enhance the gameplay of the actual season.

Personally, I like format and the layout of the 80s game better than the 70s and the rest of the games. To me, it's more fluid and easy to find your way around, but I would rather have the integration and the new interface than the old interface without integration.

Anyway, sorry for rambling, I appreciate the upgrade and have already started using the setting in the 2008 league I am in.
