Cubit Honorary Pre-Card Draft

Postby BOBBYTHOMPSON » Tue Mar 14, 2006 4:01 pm

You think your over budget...I've got $101.66 million, not counting 2 players that don't have a card. So add another million, I'm $22.66 million in the hole!!

....rules reminders below:

1) $80M Salary Cap
2) Must draft full legal SOMO roster (ie 15 hitter, 10 pitchers, 5 SPs, closer, 2 Cs, etc)
3) 3 drops allowed prior to season start in order to get under the cap
4) 2 hr limit on picks during weekdays, no clock on weekends
5) YES to DH rule

Just want to be clear on something. Using BoDean's situation as an example, he's only allowed to cut a maximum of up to 3 players before the autodraft (and replace them with unowned players)....but those 3 players he cut must be worth at least a combined $22.66 million to get him under the cap???

That's a bit harsh, isn't it? I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty much in the same boat as BoDean (if not worse). I'm having a terrible time trying to get under the cap without cutting a guy like ARod or Edmonds (my first 2 picks respectively). It would sure be nice to be able to cut more than 3 guys. Is anyone else having similar problems?

If everyone is in same boat, we can take a vote on drop policy....

BTW, our son Kai was born yesterday @ 8:21pm, a healthy 7 lbs, 14 oz, 20 inches long. Mom & future SOMO addict doing great...back online tonite....

Another thing, you have to draft 11 pitchers (4 pure relievers) and 14 hitters..

yeah, congrats Mr. & Mrs. QK!!! just got back from a job interview (gettin tired of movin) and see the '06 cards are out!!!! I might go for 4 cuts to make up the over amount (haven't looked at myne yet) but I think we all drafted a "dream team" and we all DID know the rules -- so START cuttin :).

i vote for the original rules to stand! I only have ONE player I can't squeeze under the cap (out of 25) - so I think we should NOT change the cap after the game has begun...(if we were going to do that i could have drafted alot different - including no Long, Smith, Hernandez, Relaford, Davannon or Schilling) ......JMO :).

I disagree with CaTom and vote with Albert to allow as many drops as necessary.
