BLATANT Cheating???? - REVISED II

BLATANT Cheating???? - REVISED II

Postby ROBERTLATORRE » Mon Oct 12, 2009 11:34 pm

In League TSN_15442, one of the teams has exceeded the salary cap by over $3mil (in an $80mil league).

The league needs to be reset since the manager decided to not correct it or the 11 other managers should be issued a credit.

This is absolutely BS. The manager has a 1000+ rating and over 145 teams, so the newbie argument doesn't play. [color=red:6b6127129d] [b:6b6127129d](REVISED - researching the manager on the board has led me to info he has had health problems in the past, so if that has occurred again I apologize, I sincerely hope he is not having more problems)[/b:6b6127129d][/color:6b6127129d]

[color=red:6b6127129d][b:6b6127129d]REVISED II - OK, I yield on the question about expecting the manager to show good sportsmanship, the rule as stated allows this, HOWEVER I DO NOT move from my position that TSN should spend the 10 minutes to make code changes to the autodraft to prevent this or the 5 minutes to code a check before a league kicks off to hold the league until the manager fixes the overage. Stating that "IT CAN HAPPEN" in the rules is an excuse for not resolving the problem. Either there IS a salary cap or there ISN'T.[/b:6b6127129d][/color:6b6127129d]

TSN, how do you let this kind of stuff happen.

Here's the code:

For i = 1 to numTeams
If [TeamSalary(i)] > [LeagueSalaryStructure] Then
Call SuspendLeague([LeagueID])
End if
Next i

A wasted team credit.
:x

The manager has the right not to "correct it." Of course, he forfeits the right to make any moves. But if he's willing to stay with what he's dealt, I don't see a problem.

That's my opinion anyway.

I'd be OK with that if it was $500k, but $3+ mil? That's almost a 4% advantage.

You are quite right that it is a significant advantage. However, when some really nails a draft and gets all their key picks, they also have an advantage. I guess I'm looking at it from that angle.

I wonder what's Bernie's take on this.

I don't get it. I have never seen that. Is the manager aware of this glitch? TSN is most responsible, but the manager is second most responsible for fixing this problem. That is not fair. I do not care if it is only 100,00 over the limit. Rules are rules when it comes to Strat ( and that is part of the reason I like it so much).

I e-mailed this to the same address that I e-mail for moving credits, not sure if that is the correct one (stratomatic@sportingnews.com)?

I'll post the resolution, if there is any

He's a 145 team (1000+ rated) manager and we hit waivers LAST Monday. You make the call.

I finally dip my toe back into playing after the summer long site outages and use some of my credits, and this happens. Pretty frustrating. Add to that it is now 1:40 and the leagues haven't run for my new teams. WHY EXACTLY DID I THINK IT WOULD BE DIFFERENT????

What's the definition of insanity again? Repeating the same behavior over and over and expecting a different result??

I am insane then...where are my meds??? LOL

I agree with Coyote. It does not state anywhere in the official rules that you are forced to comply by going under the cap.

This is from the Rules/FAQ
--
- How come I ended up with negative cash after the Auto-Draft?

Occasionally, the Auto-Draft isn't able to find a replacement for a $500,000 minimum-priced player you selected, because there are no players left at the same primary position for the same price. In that case, it will award you with someone slightly more expensive, which means you may end up with more than $80 million worth of player salary on your roster. Your resulting cash balance would be slightly negative, to balance out to a total team value of $80 million. You can put your account back in the black by releasing players.
--

On that note, I have played and lost in the world series to a team that had negative cash in the 80s game. They made no roster moves all season. It's not likely a mystery card team would have the luxury of doing that though.
It might not be "fair" so to speak, but it's perfectly legal.

If it were me, I would be quick to get under the cap in the mystery card game, because if he hits a few clunkers for players, he's going to have a difficult time making free agent moves.
